Hillary Clinton Says Obama Admin Ready To Negotiate With Mullah Omar…

Groan.

(Telegraph) — Washington is ready to negotiate with Taliban leader Mullah Omar and now regards his involvement as crucial to the prospects for peace in Afghanistan, Hillary Clinton has said.

Her comments been taken as a significant shift in American policy from moves to divide the Taliban-led insurgency and isolate Mullah Omar, the man who sheltered Osama bin Laden as he plotted the September 11 attacks, to an acknowledgement of his leadership.

It follows the disclosure earlier this month that American officials had met leaders of the Haqqani Network, the powerful Taliban faction blamed for some of the most devastating attacks on American and Nato forces in Afghanistan, including last month’s attack on the US embassy in Kabul in which seven were killed and 19 wounded.

Earlier this week the faction’s commander Sirajuddin Haqqani warned Washington that only the Quetta Shura, led by Mullah Omar, could negotiate a peace deal and that his fighters would not be divided from its leadership.

Mrs Clinton said the Haqqani meeting not a “negotiation” and that no subsequent meetings have followed it, but stressed any future negotiations with the Taliban would need the Quetta Shura’s blessing.

“The negotiations that would be part of any Afghan-led peace process would have to include the Quetta Shura and would have to include some recognition by the Quetta Shura which, based on everything we know, is still led by Mullah Omar, that they wish to participate in such a process. . . We are pursuing every thread of any kind of interest expressed,” she said.

Her change of tone follows earlier exploratory talks with a senior aide to Mullah Omar in Qatar and German earlier this year and appears to have been influenced by her visit to Pakistan last week, where she met army chief General Kiyani and President Asif Zardari. Sources close to the Pakistan military said General Kiyani warned her that “if this game is to end in success for the United States, they have to take these people [the Taliban] on board.”

Setup a meeting, then bomb it.

That’s how Osama Bin Laden started this whole thing just days before attacking the World Trade Center.

there’s a limit to what we can accomplish in Afghanistan as long as Pakistan shelters/supports the insurgents.

either we go to war with Pakistan or keep fighting for another dozen years or we negotiate some deal.

as long as Afghanistan doesn’t return to being a training camp for transnational terrorism, there really isn’t all much more that we can do.

There really isn’t much of a choice for the administation anymore.
Pakinstan is a step away from telling us to get out of their country.
Afghanistan just told us they’d side with Pakistan against us.
All of Barry’s supporters want us out of both places.

Thanks to this administration, this war is already lost, and they are seeking a way out.

Rufus—you are of course entirely fukk of sheep.

Afghanistan was left to rot by the last administration who set up that asshole Karzai and declared victory…..and did shit while the Taliban made their way back.

    You’re being a jerk.

—–”In a nutshell, the initial U.S. victory was undone, like so many others before it by complacency. Having seen how rapidly the Taliban fell, President George W. Bush, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Gen. Tommy Franks, head of the Central Command, decided there was no need for a sustained U.S. military presence in Afghanistan.
There were fewer than 10,000 U.S. troops — roughly two brigades — in all of Afghanistan until 2004. Their mission was limited to chasing the remnants of al Qaeda. “Nation-building,” a term the Bush administration associated with the hated Clinton administration, was strictly forbidden. The number of U.S. military personnel grew only gradually, reaching a peak of 32,000 by the time Bush left office in January 2009.”—–

Obama tripled the number of troops and told them to fight.

Any way that you cut it, as soon as we leave, Afghanistan will become a province of Pakistan and the Taliban will be once again running the show.

I read an account of a soldier in Afghanistan who was told by a local in his sector, that the reason why the Taliban are able to move freely around the battlespace is because as the local said, “We are all Taliban here.”

Of course its the ISI that created the Taliban in the first place. The ISI needs them to continue their jihad against India.

Without the ISI, the Taliban wouldn’t be anywhere the threat that they are now. And with the Lion of Panjir gone, Karzai will never be able to survive on his own or with his tribe.

A better target for the anti-jihad would be Iran. They’re the chief sponsor of terrorism in the greater ME. They’re the ones supplying haji with IED material and training and EFP’s that are killing our troops in Iraq and A-stan.

Other targets should include the ISI. They’re not our friend. Stop paying the jizya to them.

and then Saudi Arabia……which WAS the chief sponsor of al Qaeda until al Qaeda turned on them. the Saudis are also the ones who paid for all the madrassahs in Pakistan and Afghanistan that “educated” the Talib.

Not quite. There are two competing elements, the Shia and the Sunnis. Saudi has provided the Salifist interpretation of the Koran…and the correct one to the Islamic world. Muslims themselves have provided the funds to finance the building of mosques and madrassas through their zakat.

Saudi has financed the building of mosques in the west with oil jizya.

However the MB led by folk like Qutub and Edward Said have spread the western lie of Muslim history and given Muslims the goal of raising up the Khalifa.

Together the jihadis on both sides are formenting dissent against secular Muslim leaders and have allied themselves against the west in their continuing jihad.

The goal of Pakistan is the conquest of India.

The goal of Syria is a place at the table with regards to Gaza, Lebanon and the West Bank.

The goal of Iran is to be the leader of the Kalifa. And to usurp Saudi as the sole power in the Muslim world, and not only the head of the Khalifa but also provide the Mahdi.

So long as Syria and their Iranian Shia Alawite leaders continue to kowtow to Iran, with the help of Al Quds, and the Bajis, it will be very hard to take that regime down. And even if it does go down, it will be replaced with a different dictator…

Those that enshrine and enforce Sharia will be able to hold onto power.

And it will take something bigger than AQ to take down the Saudis. That’s where Iran comes into the picture. Iran will take them down, not some disgruntled populace.

Oh and Saudi didn’t sponsor AQ. AQ came out of the MB and Salifist movements in Saudi. They came into prominence in the battle against the Soviets in the 80′s. But they derived their political sustenance from the Salifist Koranic interpretation; further aided and abetted by the screeds from Qutub, and al-Banna.

Afghanistan is not and never was a real nation. It will not be when we leave. It will go back to exactly what it was before, and I’d wager Omar will go back on every deal he negotiates with Hilary. Still, we can’t stay there forever and continue to hemorrhage our blood and treasure for apparently nothing. If we have problems with them again, this is why we have long-range weaponry in the Air Force and Navy up to and including nukes.

By the why, Omar should have been taken out when Afghanistan was first invaded. Political Correctness served us well at that time.

  42. fuster says:
    October 28, 2011 at 8:15 pm

the Saudis did indeed sponsor AQ as well as the Talib schools —-although you’re correct about the MB influence.

  43. 9-11 Infidel says:
    October 28, 2011 at 9:52 pm

AQ, the Taliban and Omar all came out of the Russian War in Afghanistan. Saudi financed the muj operation against the Soviets as did we. Theey may have financed the Madrassas to recruit more muj for the war. However AQ was financed by Bin Laden himself and was his creation. His own faction of jihad.

You’re partially correct about the so-called religious students – the Taliban. However the Taliban is still an ISI creation who were sent in to fill in the power vacuum in Afghanistan after the Soviets left. And they will again when the West leaves.

Then the ISI will turn their attention back to the jihad in India and use their Talib allies to accomplish their goals while pushing Afghanistan deeper into the 7th century.

OBL started his movement when he was asked to act as a mediator between the Northern Alliance, Najibullah and the Taliban during the civil war between militias after the Soviets left. He started his group with about as many ex-muj as Omar did…about 30 people. Only deal was that OBL wanted to rule the world and Omar only wanted to rule Afghanistan beacuse his vision of Muhammed told him as much.

OBL got too big for his britches and got into a few tiffs with Omar. But Omar true to Pashtun tradition continued to harbor his boy, even though it was getting obvious in the late 90′s that OBL was inviting disaster to Omar, and Afghanistan.

Now that OBL is living with his 72 virgins, Omar is free to continue to realize his vision as the sole leader of leader of Afghanistan; the destroyer of all other muj militias, and the possibility of establishing a Pashtun state that consists of large parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Those madrasses were set up to give Afghan refugees from the Soviet war a free education. But it turned into something a little more deadly.

Now the Taliban get all their sustenance from Muslims themselves, the ISI and Iran.

AQ is strictly on its own except where convergent jihadist goals meet; in which case the Mahdi-ist government in Tehran is more than happy to help out.

I got tons of books on the jihad and Islam, terrorism, blah, blah blah. I guess one more PDF can’t hurt.

Roosevelt. I tend to believe that Clinton’s inability to focus or act upon National defense issues such as financing of critical intelligence, black Ops, etc. allowed Al Qaeda, specifically Osama Bin Laden, to kill key American allies in Afghanistan and then to plan and orchestrate 9/11. Of course, it has all been by the Progressive Liberal design at shifting America away from her sovereignty to bring her toward the Libtard Utopia of One World Order….
