Here We Go: Politico’s Anonymous Sources Claim Herman Cain Accused of Inappropriate Behavior By Two Women In 1990s…

It’s tough to take this seriously when Politico can’t find a single person willing to go on the record.

(Politico) — During Herman Cain’s tenure as the head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s, at least two female employees complained to colleagues and senior association officials about inappropriate behavior by Cain, ultimately leaving their jobs at the trade group, multiple sources confirm to POLITICO.

The women complained of sexually suggestive behavior by Cain that made them angry and uncomfortable, the sources said, and they signed agreements with the restaurant group that gave them financial payouts to leave the association. The agreements also included language that bars the women from talking about their departures.

In a series of comments over the past 10 days, Cain and his campaign repeatedly declined to respond directly about whether he ever faced allegations of sexual harassment at the restaurant association. They have also declined to address questions about specific reporting confirming that there were financial settlements in two cases in which women leveled complaints.

POLITICO has confirmed the identities of the two female restaurant association employees who complained about Cain but, for privacy concerns, is not publishing their names.

Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon told POLITICO the candidate indicated to campaign officials that he was “vaguely familiar” with the charges and that the restaurant association’s general counsel had resolved the matter.

The latest statement came from Cain himself. In a tense sidewalk encounter Sunday morning outside the Washington bureau of CBS News — where the Republican contender had just completed an interview on “Face the Nation” — Cain evaded a series of questions about sexual harassment allegations.

Cain said he has “had thousands of people working for me” at different businesses over the years and could not comment “until I see some facts or some concrete evidence.” His campaign staff was given the name of one woman who complained last week, and it was repeated to Cain on Sunday. He responded, “I am not going to comment on that.”

He was then asked, “Have you ever been accused, sir, in your life of harassment by a woman?”

He breathed audibly, glared at the reporter and stayed silent for several seconds. After the question was repeated three times, he responded by asking the reporter, “Have you ever been accused of sexual harassment?”

Cain was president and CEO of the National Restaurant Association from late 1996 to mid-1999. POLITICO learned of the allegations against him, and over the course of several weeks, has put together accounts of what happened by talking to a lengthy roster of former board members, current and past staff and others familiar with the workings of the trade group at the time Cain was there.

In one case, POLITICO has seen documentation describing the allegations and showing that the restaurant association formally resolved the matter. Both women received separation packages that were in the five-figure range.

Were the 2 women Anita, and Hill??

All I can say is this is going to create a massive backlash, because I was one of those idiot dems during the Thomas hearing that actually believed Anita Hill, and so was disgusted by Clarence Thomas.

Now I look back and I get disgusted at what they did to Clarence Thomas, and I now see they are doing the same to Herman Cain. And this is even worse, all anonymous, and right on schedule by the hating liberal media.

There were at least two gay choir member former lovers of Obama (part of Wright’s DLC or Down Low Club) who were murdered just before the campaign… one who Wright announced in his so-called church before the Chicago Coroner’s office pronounced him dead. Obama belonged to Man’s Country gay club in Chicago…

I really wonder if the liberal mainstream media has figured out that the american public has figured out their patterns. I remember when Mccain was nominated, it was all for propping him up as a moderate, as a maverick, as soon as he became the nominee, bam! the next week the NYT ran a front page edotorial on some supposed mistress he had that was a lobbyist, so all that momemtum was getting the repub nomination was gone.

Same with Bob Mcdonneld, they dug up a 20+ paper from college from him to attack that he was against women, and there are so many examples, heck, I’m never used to be that much of a politico until 2008 when I figured out and paid attention.

deceptions only work when people trust that source and believe they are being fed truth and not deceptions, that is no longer the case though.

Here is Herman Cain’s problem, If the story is true Politio dumped it on sunday night which means it leads on monday morning.
They say they have seen the legal docs and have the names of the women.

Cain alluded to this in May using the cryptic “hightech lynchng” Thomas quote. It means Cain new this was coming at some point and yet his team doesn’t seem to be handling it very well…but it’s early yet.

“Particuarly difficult for Cain is that the Politico report claims that an actual settlement was reached on the matter:

In one case, POLITICO has seen documentation describing the allegations and showing that the restaurant association formally resolved the matter. Both women received separation packages that were in the five-figure range.

If the allegations are indeed false, then the Cain campaign better be able to elaborate about what was specifically false in the story. Simply blaming the “establishment” for trying to take him down, won’t cut it outside of his die hard fan base….”

I think this is because her whitey episode, there were charges that were pending, and she gave it up inside since Barry was running for the senate, and that’s why she and Valerie Jarrett went to work at the hospital in the patient dumping scheme (aka to make the hospital more efficient), and as soon as Barry become a senator, she got a 300K raise… so giving up the law license didn’t hurt, it was just a stepping stone.

Michelle lot her law license over the hospital flap…Obama lost his as well which is why he only clerked instead of tried cases at that law firm (Unheard of with a former editor of law review at Harvard.) speculation is that it has to do with Obama never legally changing his name from Barry Soetoro?

  57. Tricia says:
    October 30, 2011 at 9:54 pm

I actually gave no credibility to the story until this:

It’s Cain’s answer. When asked if he’d ever been accused of sexual harrassment. It could’ve been “Yes, it was a misunderstanding & is settled.” or something of the sort. Instead he hesitated for several seconds and said, “Have YOU ever been accused of sexual harassment?”

This left it as a Yes in my mind and now gives credence to the story. He essentially gave a Yes, but with no additional explanation. It could have been exactly a misunderstanding on the parts of the women but he didn’t say that. It leaves it open for speculation and further scrutiny. He could have ended it right there.

Now, what concerns me more is the payback (Cronyism) that comes for all his years of D.C. Lobbying and hiring other Lobbyists for them:

“Revelations about the settlements come as members of the association’s board planned to meet this month to talk about ways to use the organization’s clout to boost Cain’s campaign.

Ideas to be discussed included making a donation to Cain from the organization’s political action committee, which typically doesn’t contribute to presidential campaigns, and, more significantly, organizing a fundraiser for his campaign.”

    Michelle Obama Loses Law License

Did you know that our First Lady Michelle Obama lost her law license back in 1993? Oh sure I knew that, “NOT.” Sure, I saw this on the front page of the New York Times during the elections of 2008, “NOT.” I’ve listed below from the State of Illinois’s website of the court action against Michelle forcing her to give up her license. It’s understood that in the box attacked below under Malpractice Insurance – “No malpractice report required as attorney is under court order inactive status.”
In other words Michelle was under court order to give up her license and is not allowed to practice law in Illinois, period. I hate to use this word but its “rumored” that she was extorting clients. Again, it’s “rumored!” It’s also “rumored” that our President Barack Obama may have been disciplined for not divulging other names that he has used in the past. That really concerns me. He also has an inactive Illinois license to practice law (listed below).
This is so unfortunate for the Obama’s, after all they are our first family and he is the first black/white President of the United States but I can’t stop thinking that this guy and his wife are not who they say they are. They don’t seem to uphold the integrity of our past first families, yes, even Richard Nixon for all you lefties out there.

I actually gave no credibility to the story until this:

It’s Cain’s answer. When asked if he’d ever been accused of sexual harrassment. It could’ve been “Yes, it was a misunderstanding & is settled.” or something of the sort. Instead he hesitated for several seconds and said, “Have YOU ever been accused of sexual harassment?” If it had been untrue, he would have said so-an outright “No”

This left it as a Yes and now gives credence to the story. He essentially gave a Yes, but with no additional explanation. It could have been exactly a misunderstanding on the parts of the women but he didn’t say that. It leaves it open for speculation and further scrutiny. He could have ended it right there.

I believe he didn’t know how to answer, that it was true but isn’t sure if it will come back and bite him if he embellishes on a Yes answer. Or if further details could be found out. A settlement in the five-figure range is also a pretty high settlement amount.

Now, what also concerns is the payback (Cronyism) that comes for all his years of D.C.

Not that this isn’t done but a board who doesn’t give presidential campaign contributions nor organize fundraisers for them, yet who does it now, shows a payback.

From what I remember reading Michelle Obama gave up her license when she was appointed to head the board at that hospital in Chicago. It was a conflict of interest thingy and she was asked by the bar to make a choice so she surrendered her license to practice law in Illinois. She can resume it whenever she likes. I think Obama’s case is different though and goes back to before he entered politics and before he taught at the Chicago College but all his records have been sealed (And losing his license might be partof it)

50 Reasons WHY America Should Examine Obama’s Past

f the American people are ever blessed to have Obama’s secret biography deliberated by an unbiased authority, with higher intelligence, the following will have to be addressed on the merits of legitimacy.

    Essay by Penbrook Johannson
    Editor, The Daily Pen

    1. The Definition of “Natural-Born Citizenship”. The U.S. Constitution requires that a presidential candidate be a Natural-Born Citizen in order to be eligible for the office of President.

In seeking to define the meaning of “natural born citizenship”, those who support Obama take a minimalist view of the term. They desire to assume jurisdiction over its definition in the minds of as many as possible contending that “natural born citizenship” means the fewest, most remedial natal circumstances possible which will allow Obama just enough legitimacy to be eligible. Their definition allows Obama to merely meet what they consider the most easily argued characteristics of Obama’s citizenry, in this case, his birth place.

However, the purposed intent of our founders was not so slight in this matter. They sought to make the meaning of being a Natural born citizen the highest, most laudable position of all forms of citizenry. All arguments seeking to diminish this truth are reprobate and defamatory, made in the interest of serving one’s own political lust, not defending the sovereignty of our Constitution or people. Hence, logically, our founders induced that the highest form of eligibility for the highest office would be a lawful mandate.

    Consider the following:

SCOTUS ruled on the definition of a natural born citizen in Minor v. Happersett:

    Minor v. Happersett, 1874
“At common law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners.”

friday, when attorneys give up their license it is finalized by court order. That really means nothing that there is a court order notation.

However, it takes a lot of suspension of credulity to believe that there were no bad actions involved for a black, Harvard trained woman to just “voluntarily” give up her license. Large firms would hire her and make her partner at the drop of a hat. There was no reason for her to give up her license to go to work at a hospital. There are people who work in other industries other than law who retain their license.

We know that Barry lost his license because he lied about not having gone by another name during his life on his license application. However, it seems to me like he would have just have gotten some type of censure and not have lost his license if there wasn’t something else out there.

The bottomline is that any black that is Harvard educated basically has it made in the shade financially. I have never accepted that they just easily gave up their license. There is much more out there, but since they “voluntarily” gave up their license, there will never be a record of what happened for them to lose their license. Had they fought the discipline then there would be a record.

Coulter: Politico’s Smear Of Cain Shows Liberal Media “Terrified Of Strong, Conservative, Black Men”

Ann Coulter responds to a report from the “liberal publication” Politico that Herman Cain sexually harassed two women while he was the president of the National Restaurant Association.

The most damning part of the report, which is not well sourced, seems to be that Mr. Cain made “physical gestures” that weren’t sexual in nature, but made the women uncomfortable:

There were also descriptions of physical gestures that were not overtly sexual but that made women who experienced or witnessed them uncomfortable and that they regarded as improper in a professional relationship.

On Sunday’s edition of CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” one of Politico’s top writers Roger Simon accused Rick Perry of being a racist, and said being one is helpful for a candidate in the Republican primary.

OK, I’ve had enough. For all you armchair attorneys out there, I am a licensed attorney in IL. We have a choice every year when we pay ARDC fees to the state whether we are actively engaged in the practice of law or not. We can pay a lower rate “inactive status” or the higher rate. We DO NOT have the option of giving up our license from time to time and re-instating it at will. That comment (whoever said it) is the most ill-informed, assinine thing I have ever read. Moochelle either voluntarily gave up her license (which no one would ever do) or she lost it for malpractice or other malfeasance, PERIOD.

I don’t believe the Cain story is BS. I believe that there was some kind of accusation and some kind of settlement, but I don’t believe he actually did anything to merit either.

Cain’s answer to the reporter was in line with that scenario.”Have you ever been ACCUSED of sexual harassment?” In other words, it’s a he said she said situation which is very difficult to disprove. And there are some women who see sexual harassment in the most mundane of words and actions.

An organization like the National Restaurant Association would be quick to settle something like this for fear of the bad publicity.

Therefore, the story of accusations and settlements may be perfectly true, but the long ago accusations themselves might easily have been false and handled poorly.

If I’m correct, Cain’s best course is to tell the truth and remind everyone how easy it is to be falsely accused in a situation which, by its very nature, cannot be disproved and to have an entire organization’s reputation on the line.

As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case it is not necessary to solve these doubts. It is sufficient for everything we have now to consider that all children born of citizen parents within the jurisdiction are themselves citizens.

Mooch was Rule 770, not Rule 756
This ADRC is for discipline reasons…not for those volunteering to stop practicing. It is COURT ORDERED…not “Michelle Obama ordered.” Their website is very clear about their function and why they step in.
    http://www.state.il.us/court/SupremeCourt/Rules/Art_VII/

Rule number 770..it is all about types of Discipine…and reasons for a lawyer to be disbarred

See, Rule 756 is about voluntary inactive status, which simply costs $105/year, no biggie. That’s what you’d do if you were a lawyer wanting to go inactive, voluntarily without any extraneous forces.

But Rule 770 is all about DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS. An attorney may be on “voluntary inactive status persuant to Rule 770″ but that is not the same as Rule 756, which is invoked purely on personal whim. Michelle’s ARDC report states: “No malpractice report required, as attorney is on court ordered inactive status.”

Court ordered means court ordered, not Michelle ordered.
If Michelle had ordered it, that would be via Rule 756. Michelle Obama is on “Court Ordered Inactive Status” pursuant to Rule 770, i.e. disciplinary rules, to avoid reporting of malpractice. Compelled to go voluntarily inactive would be the kindest description of this outcome.

If she’d have wanted to go VOLUNTARY INACTIVE she’d have used Rule 756:
    http://www.state.il.us/court/SupremeCourt/Rules/Art_VII/artVII.htm#Rule770

“(5) An attorney may advise the Administrator in writing that he or she desires to assume inactive status and, thereafter, register as an inactive status attorney. The annual registration fee for an inactive status attorney shall be $105. Upon such registration, the attorney shall be placed upon inactive status and shall no longer be eligible to practice law or hold himself or herself out as being authorized to practice law in this State, except as is provided in paragraph (j) of this rule. An attorney who is on the master roll as an inactive status attorney may advise the Administrator in writing that he or she desires to resume the practice of law, and thereafter register as active upon payment of the registration fee required under this rule and submission of verification from the Director of MCLE that he or she has complied with MCLE requirements as set forth in Rule 790 et seq. If the attorney returns from inactive status after having paid the inactive status fee for the year, the attorney shall pay the difference between the inactive status registration fee and the registration fee required under paragraphs (a)(1) through (a)(4) of this rule. Inactive status under this rule does not include inactive disability status as described in Rules 757 and 758. Any lawyer on inactive disability status is not required to pay an annual fee.”

“with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar”

Common Law is the Law of Nations.. the Framers were familiar with that..
it’s there plain as day.. and the Law of Nations was very very important..

    http://east_west_dialogue.tripod.com/vattel/id3.html

The inclusion of the central conception of {The Law of Nations,} Vattel’s Leibnizian concept of happiness, as one of the three inalienable rights, is a crucial statement of the Declaration’s Leibnizian character. The Declaration of Independence was prepared by a committee consisting of Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman. Jefferson was assigned by this committee to write the draft of the Declaration, after John Adams turned down the task, because of his numerous other responsibilities. The fact, that Jefferson was a strong proponent of the philosophy of John Locke by as early as 1771, is often used as evidence that the Declaration was based on Locke’s philosophy. However, Locke had argued, in his {Two Treatises of Government,} that the fundamental right of men is to “Life, Liberty, and Property.” The inclusion of “the pursuit of happiness,” rather than “property,” as an inalienable right, was a crucial statement, that the American Revolution would be a battle for the establishment of a true Republic, rather than merely a dispute between two groups of aristocrats over the division of property.

    ============
An example of the Law of Nation’s influence..

Under Adams’ direction, the War of 1812 might have, in fact, been remembered as the War of 1806. He confides to Rush that he “would have declared war against Great Britain five or six years ago, when the King issued that most atrocious of all violations of the Law of Nations, his proclamation for impressing seamen from our ships.”

Britain’s controversial seizure of American sailors to crew Royal Navy ships for its ongoing wars against France – a policy that treated citizens of the newly independent United States as if they were still Britons – was a key trigger for the War of 1812.

Gov. Perry didn’t spin it,deny it or run away from the story…he dealt with it head.

Hey chimp, with regards to Minor here is a read that might help clarify.

“Additions might always be made to the citizenship of the United States in two ways: first, by birth, and second, by naturalization. This is apparent from the Constitution itself, for it provides that ‘no person except a natural-born citizen, or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of the Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President,‘ and that Congress shall have power ‘to establish a uniform rule of naturalization.’ Thus new citizens may be born or they may be created by naturalization.”

The idiot who wrote that bullshit in your link has to resort to saying that Waite didn’t say what he clearly said in Minor and that Grey (in the later case) is misinterpreting Waite.

That is what gets used for fertilizer. You kids gotta learn how to read for yourselves.

Minor says, in so many words, that the Court is NOT defining “natural-born citizen”

    Go and do your homework……

——–“The Constitution does not, in words, say who shall be natural-born citizens”
“For the purposes of this case it is not necessary to solve these doubts”
    ———————
    http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/cgi-bin/getcase.pl?court=US&vol=88&invol=162
    ——————
The Constitution does not, in words, say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common-law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners. Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their [88 U.S. 162, 168] parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case it is not necessary to solve these doubts.

Cain’s campaign manager, called into the Geraldo show while Geraldo was discussing the allegations against Cain.

Geraldo gave him several chances to deny the allegations, asking him several times and even explaining how this could really hurt Mr. Cain if he didn’t end it now.

If it had happened, this would have been the perfect opportunity to explain it and smooth it over. Why did he call in if he wasn’t going to deny or address it?

I think he made it worse.

And the story on CBS, the headline is to get you there to read it. The headline is: Herman Cain denies sexual harassment claims

Except, the article says they never spoke to Cain and it also says the statement put out by his campaign manager, never denies the allegations: “The statement, issued by Gordon, never directly denies the allegations.” The statement only blames the media for putting the story out there.

His campaign did the same thing as they did when he called into Geraldo. Blaming the Liberal media will only get you so far. Like Geraldo told him, address it head-on, don’t let it drag on.

The second…..”So What?” This was the response of Rep. Henry Waxman when
the House impeached President Clinton for perjuring himself when he testified
before a Grand Jury. Waxman had little interest in the charges, and repeated

I wish I had a nickle for everytime any man in the US gets accused of sexual misconduct / harassment. IVE been accused of it, and I know damn well I didnt do anything. MOST men who work at more than one employer will encounter it at some point, and Ill say the chance TRIPLES if they are a supervisor / CEO etc. of some sort. Its usually a money grab. Some women are desperate enough to even try it with guys who arent high up on the ladder, b/c their boss hasnt provided them with any opportunity….yet.
I guarantee this was an Anita Hill situation. These 2 women wanted some money, so they made up some story about how Cain did ______ , and got their settlement. Da gurlfrenz gots PAID! If we were to see how many CEOs get blackmailed / accused on a regular basis, it would quickly sweep this under the rug where it belongs.

EVEN IF Cain actually made some sort of pass at these women… SO WHAT!? He might have been having a rough go of it at that time in his marriage, and was looking for something else. Who knows? Who gives a damn, really? He wasnt in a public office, and certainly didnt cheat on his wife with an intern half his age in the oval orifice, desecrating the historic landmark with stankin cigars.
If anything, this makes Cain seem more down to earth and more like a real man, as opposed to Barry who can only point to Michelle as any woman hes ever slept with.

Anyone who puts credence to this is just looking for an excuse to try to get Cain to go down in flames.
Its pathetic, and anyone trying to fan these made up flames is even more pathetic.

ITS A DISTRACTION, nothing more. Politico is hoping for either A- Cain drops out, or B- the republicans eat each other alive over this (you know Rove and Romney will comment) or C- It just provides cover-fire for Obummer for awhile, so he can campaign some more and take some heat off of him and Biden.

@Snuffy Pop Tuna Scented Popcorn, you nailed it. There are women who are out to be offended by anything. At a past job, I had a wonderful supervisor, a very nice Christian gentleman from Nigeria who gave a chance to a friend of mine who’d been out of work for a long time. Helping her get a job where I worked was a huge mistake anyway, and she started proving that as soon as possible.

Anyway, one of the ways in which she distinguished herself as an employee was getting our supervisor fired for sexual harassment. She was a hefty gal, and forever complaining about same, to anyone and everyone who’d listen, but she didn’t really want suggestions or advice. Our supervisor, who tended toward the blunt (but kind-hearted) responded by saying that maybe there was a correlation between her eating habits and her weight (I believe he said “Maybe if you didn’t eat so much…”).

As for Cain, this doesn’t pass the smell test. They signed agreements that they wouldn’t disclose the details, but they ARE disclosing the details now?
