David Axelrod: GOP May Be Trying To Destroy Economy On Purpose…
The economy needs no help being destroyed with Obama in office.

Here’s David Axelrod, on CNN today, pushing back on Candy Crowley’s suggestion that Obama bears some of the blame for Congress’s failure to act on the economy:
I think this is something — something different going on right now. When you have the leader — the Republican leader of the Senate say, our number one goal — in the midst of this economy, our number one goal is to defeat the president, and they’re acting like it.
They don’t want to cooperate. They don’t want to help. Even on measures to help the economy that they traditionally have supported before, like a payroll tax cut, like infrastructure, rebuilding our roads and bridges and surface transport. These — so you have to ask a question, are they willing to tear down the economy in order to tear down the president or are they going to cooperate?
And, listen, there’s a reason why the Congress is at nine percent in some polls, approval, lowest in history. Because this is different than we’ve ever seen before.
This is an argument that many Congressional Dems and surrogates, such as messaging chief Chuck Schumer, have been making for some time now. But to my knowledge Obama campaign officials have not been willing to go here in quite this way in a high profile setting (there was a fundraising email that made a similar case a few weeks ago).

It is common practice for Democrats to acuse Republicans of that the Dems have done. obama and the Dems have done untold damage to the sconomy.
The Dems had control of Congress from 2006 – 2010. The Dems had complete control of the country from 2008 – 2010.
They own the bad econlmy. It is due entirely to their meddling.

I’m a little bit confused over Axelgrease’s statement. All my life I have heard the following from Democrats; “The Republicans are for big business, the Democrats are for the little man”. Now, if Republicans are for big business, then why would the Republicans want to kill that which nourishes them? Can you explain?
It’s a foregone conclusion (through those statements I have been witness to for my entire life), the Democrats want to destroy big business (and any other size business for that matter). And now if the Republicans want to destroy business, as the Democrats say – then who is for private/corporate business? Have the Democrats and Republicans held some secret “Yalta-like” conference as to how they are going to divide the country up after this “Post Apocalytic Presidency”?

Here’s what one “progressive” piece of Obama nonsense accomplished. The person who calculated this bit of information is now and has been a professor at The University of West Virginia in for the last forty some years.
A clunker that travels 12,000 miles a year at 15 mpg uses 800 gallons of gas a year.
A vehicle that travels 12,000 miles a year at 25 mpg uses 480 gallons of gas a year.
So, the average Cash for Clunkers transaction will reduce gasoline consumption by 320 gallons per year.
The government claims 700,000 clunkers have been replaced so that’s 224 million gallons saved per year.
That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil.
5 million barrels is about 5 hours worth of US consumption.
More importantly, 5 million barrels of oil at $70 per barrel (the price then) cost about $350 million dollars.
So, the government paid $3 billion of our tax dollars to save $350 million.
We spent $8.57 for every $1.00 we saved.
Not only that; the “Clunkers” turned in were all destroyed, raising the used car market prices for the lower-income folk this administration pretends to help.
I’m sure they will do a better job with our health care, though. Aren’t you?
