Wall Street Occupiers Draft Code of Ethics: “Hurting Someone’s Feelings” Enough To Get You Banished…

(NYDN) — Protesters in Zuccotti Park may be free spirits, but they’ve decided they need some rules all the same.
And if you dare break them — you’re out.
The group has formed its own security detail to enforce a code of ethics mapped out during their general assembly meeting Monday.
“If you want to be part of our group, you have to be civilized,” said Paul Isaac, 45, who is part of Occupy Wall Street’s security team. “Unfortunately, some people come to disrupt the peace.”
The list includes rules against stealing, sexual harassment and hurting others — including their feelings. The group also put a ban on fuel, weapons or drugs in the park.
“Basically, we want people to respect one another,” Isaac said.
We want to stay on message. We don’t want people who want to add fuel to the fire, he added.
Victims are told to report any violation to the security team, who will decide whether the person should be kicked out of the park or reported to the police.

I’m still not sure what the message is. Everytime I tell my liberal coworkers what I think the message is, they tell me that populist uprisings don’t have a specific message.

@Infidel, that’s what I was wondering, how are they gonna say someone is banned from a public park? They have no authority to enforce any rules on anyone. Hell, they don’t even have a permit to be there as it is.
They are creating what they say they are against, a hierarchy and of course putting themselves on top.

I was wondering exactly the same thing. The irony is, these “free spirits” are starting to learn why societies have rules.
When I was a kid in college in San Francisco in the early seventys the demonstrations for freeing black conciousness and ending the Viet war were social events ending in much pot smokin and sex! It was great and a time to remember. Sure, we believed in the ideals that we were protesting for, or against, but mostly for the social aspect. Then there were the hard core hippies that were living on the street, dealers and theives. They were all part of the demonstrations too. We believed wholheartedly that the reveloution was coming. The Beatles sang about it too!
Reality sank in when the people who’s rights we were protesting for were breakin into our cars and robbing us with guns and knives! I never went to demonstrations again. I worked to pay my rent and provide a life for my wife and kids. My kids think I’m not aware of what’s going on cause I’m old or out of the new loop or something, but since 2000, the world has begun to turn to shit, because of their liberal upbringing. I hate to say this but, it’s my fault for not paying attention to what they learn in school and not giving them guidence. They all should know that when Anti-semitisim and hatred and violence was heard, their relavance became null and void. Another lost generation. Thank God we still have the military to protect us but I still fear what the future has in store for us. If Obumhead wins the next election and he’s president again, I’m afraid we’re really screwed.
It looks like all they do to those that rape and assault in the park is issue “strongly worded resolutions” like good leftists–and cover the crimes up.
