Oakland Occupiers Go On A Rampage…

Of course, because didn’t all Tea Party events devolve into mayhem? Errr, maybe not.

I remember news video of riots in Oakland or Watts back in the late 60s or early 70s. Angry people were protesting and it eventually deteriorated into riots, looting and fire bombing. The one thing that stands out in my memory is a bunch of Koreans defending their little store from the looters and idiots. The Koreans had machine guns of all things, and by golly their store was not molested.

On the Michael Berry show today the elected rep for the Oakland PD called in saying that the mayor of Oakland sent out a memo on October 28 giving all city workers, except the entire police department, the day off Nov. 2nd to participate in the “general strike.” All scheduled police vacation was canceled too. He sent an open letter on Nov. 1 asking what sense did it make that she would give city workers a day off, with pay, to protest against the very city they work for, and for that matter what was it she expected the police to do? I’m listening to this part of the program at about 4-ish central time today, and the rep was saying at that time the Oakland PD were doing nothing with no forth coming orders from above.

Does anyone know what time this destruction of property was taking place, and what, if any police action was taken? Because I am smelling some stinking, rotten fish.

    http://www.michaelberry.ktrh.com/pages/storiesandlinks.html

    http://www.opoa.org/uncategorized/an-open-letter-to-the-citizens-of-oakland-from-the-oakland-police-officers%E2%80%99-association/

    In part:

“To add to the confusion, the Administration issued a memo on Friday, October 28th to all City workers in support of the “Stop Work” strike scheduled for Wednesday, giving all employees, except for police officers, permission to take the day off.

That’s hundreds of City workers encouraged to take off work to participate in the protest against “the establishment.” But aren’t the Mayor and her Administration part of the establishment they are paying City employees to protest? Is it the City’s intention to have City employees on both sides of a skirmish line?

Meanwhile, a message has been sent to all police officers: Everyone, including those who have the day off, must show up for work on Wednesday. This is also being paid for by Oakland taxpayers. Last week’s events alone cost Oakland taxpayers over $1 million.”

  33. MaryfromMarin says:
    November 2, 2011 at 11:01 pm

Today was “Whistleblower Wednesday” on the Brian Sussman morning radio show (KSFO, out of SF Bay Area). It was first-hand reported that some Oakland police were so angry about Mayor Quan’s “handling” of this situation that they were threatening to quit.

The police and the mayor’s office are at loggerheads about this, as she has encouraged and sympathized with the OWS people instead of backing up her police force.

So I’m not at all surprised that there was little police presence at the “core”–they know they’ve been thrown under the bus by the mayor’s office.

(BTW, Bay Area Patriots has been documenting the development of the Occupy Oakland events. Will forward videos as they become available.)

Ah I love one-side reporting. I’m sure none of you will hear or read about reports of protesters physically driving off the Blac Block Anarchists that had latched on after realizing what they were about. Nor will you see the pictures or hear the accounts of protesters cleaning off the spray paint the anarchists sprayed on buildings. Also the police recognized that Blac Block Anarchists were not part of Occupy Oakland (look at them. They’re dressed in all black and wearing bandannas over their faces. Pretty distinct) and dispersed/arrested their group within the hour of their actions. Knowing all this I’m sure you will stop using an extremely small sect of radicals to make general assumptions about all of Occupy Oakland.

    Tl;dr
Violent anarchists are not considered apart of the Occupy movements. They were drive out. Have a nice day

  39. The Original says:
    November 2, 2011 at 11:17 pm

That looks like the Seattle WTO riots. However, the businesses eventually got smart and boarded up their windows before all of them were broken. It took months before all of the sprayed paint was gone. Trouble is there doesn’t seem to be an end to this one. For the WTO, we knew eventually the WTO would end and these anarchists would be gone. OWS are nothing but anarchists because they want to destroy anything that has to do with the rule of law.

I do feel sorry for businesses that are probably now ruined because of these people. Smaller, single owner businesses cannot survive this kind of attack.

  40. jwyatt03 says:
    November 2, 2011 at 11:20 pm

This is all on the mayor. The cops had them completely cleaned out and then she invited them back in and told the police to leave them alone. In fact, she even encouraged city employees to join in. They need to invoke whatever means possible to get her out of office ASAP before innocent citizens get killed.

  41. MaryfromMarin says:
    November 2, 2011 at 11:20 pm

    @TickTock–

“Blac Block Anarchists” wouldn’t have had any opportunity to perpetrate mayhem if Oakland hadn’t allowed these protests to go on and on and on and on…. In case you haven’t heard, a vehicle hit 2 protesters earlier in downtown Oakland. Police were on the scene immediately, and the driver of the vehicle was allowed to drive away. Reports started coming in that 1 person died, then they said the driver did it on purpose because he was mad at the protesters. Now they’re saying the protester was murdered, and the police are complicit.

Let me be very clear: there is NO CONFORMATION that anyone has died. I did see photos of an injured but obviously alive person receiving treatment. But given the fact the protesters are leaving the port now and on their way back to the park, and there are lots of rumors flying around about this, things could get messy.

If this was a Conservative movement (which of course it couldn’t possibly be) that was rioting, Barry would have called out the troops a long time ago.

THIS is exactly what Barry and his minions want… rioting in the streets to be able to declare martial law and cancel the elections.

At what point will the use of deadly force be authorized? I don’t like seeing businesses and personal property being destroyed by people who face no consequences for their actions.

    @ El Guapo

    Consequences?

In Oakland, the Mayorette will probably give them medals and offer them positions in the City government, as long as they join the Union, of course.

Why aren’t there any pics of the cops stomping these pieces of shit into the cement? What the hell kind of mayor tells their employees to go down and participate in this?

Expect a statement from OO this morning blaming the violence on 1) anarchists not involved with OO, 2) the police, and 3) the mayorette.

    Just wait until Saturday 11/5.

Who is going to pay for the damage? Was anyone arrested and if so are they being heavily fined? I am so tired of these animals destroying others’ property and livelihood and getting off with no real punishment. They are cowards for hiding behind masks also. Until the punishment is swift and severe this nonsense will continue.

We are seeing the Class War that Barry called for.

He is not going to stop it, not even call for “peace and understanding”.

His next speech will be to rally his troops and shutdown the government.

BTW, this will be the end of Obama. The majority of American voters will now see this as HIS doing, HIS idea, HIS Class War.

    He is finished.

I look at it this way. These people in the uber liberal inner cities deserve everything they’re going to receive. I have absolutely 0 pity for anyone that resides or works in Oakland.”

I hate to say it, but you’re right on the money. Those idiots keep voting for socialists and idiots like the mayor of Oakland and other Democrats who support the Occutards. You reap what you sow.

Dang! I forgot to mention that night before last a sudden “emergency” call went out from OO for fire extinguishers. Since they couldn’t have fuel or fires in the camp, it was obvious they’d be used during the strike somehow. They filled them with white paint and used them to spray graffiti, one was shown on video after the Whole Foods incident.
