Nov. 17 (Bloomberg) — Libyan gunmen broke into the Saif al-Nasr mosque in Tripoli early on Nov. 8, smashed open a wooden sarcophagus and removed the remains of Saif al-Nasr, a scholar who died 155 years ago, and a former imam, Hammad Zwai.
“These bodies have been moved to a Muslim cemetery,” announced graffiti on the walls, explaining the disapproval by some Islamists of the Sufi Muslim tradition of burying scholars and teachers in mosques to honor them.
Muslims pushing for a strict intepretation of Islamic law are jostling for power in the chaos that has gripped Libya since the ouster of Muammar Qaddafi, the third North African leader after those in Egypt and Tunisia to fall in the Arab Spring.
Last month protesters holding signs proclaiming “We Are Here to Purify the Honor of Tripoli” forced the early closure of the capital’s first fashion show since Qaddafi’s 42-year rule in Tripoli ended in August.

Within a year or so, we will see Libya turn into one of the worst Sharia Law Islamic hellholes.
Their country was all but destroyed by NATO (Barry), alQaeda is already taking control of parts of their new government, and the people have lost hope.
They are ripe for total Koranic control.
Of course, no one could have foreseen this.
Agreed that Obama and NATO should have minded their own business. If we do that now, maybe, just maybe they (the Muslims) will kill each other, because they have fought each other for hundreds of years.
Rest assured that 155 year old bodies probably falls in the Muslim range of not freshly dead, so they cant have sex with the corpse. But then the fatwa is probably open to interpretation by the reader.
Can’t they dream up some other more sensible hobbies? Take up sand skiing or some dumb thing?
Springtime for Omohammed and Libyaya. Please name a single functional, truly democratic Muslim country in the Middle East and North Africa. Decades ago, Lebanon was the one country that actually had a modern democracy. Years of sectarian violence, terrorism and proxy warfare destroyed that country. Democracy was supposed to follow the American and British invasion of Iraq. How long does anyone really give Iraq before it descends back into savage barbarism and a Iranian influenced religious tyrant overthrows the democracy we imposed on this country. There is a reason why these countries were all run by military strongmen and religious tyrants. It’s their Muslim religion. The people who have taken over these countries can’t wait to get back to the 7th Century. They are going to turn on the same Western countries that helped them overthrow the dictators they were oppressed by, because their new leaders hate us. In a few years, Western countries will be embroiled in World War III if something isn’t done now to prevent Iran from going nuclear. Things are just going to get worse, and we better not have the Obama and Clinton team in charge of our defenses when it does gets worse.
