Andrew Sullivan Has a Message For Us: I’m a Real Conservative, You Are Not…

Andrew Sullivan spent a good deal of his morning on television today, following up an appearance on The Chris Matthews Show with an extended interview on Reliable Sources, where the blogger discussed moderate conservatism and his increased alienation from the American right with Howard Kurtz. Sullivan insisted that, despite praising President Obama and, on some issues, falling in the Ezra Klein/Thomas Friedman column, he was still a true conservative.
Kurtz began the interview by commenting that Sullivan had been “vitrolic” towards many conservatives lately, and asking how he reconciled that with his own politics. “Because I’m still a conservative and they are not,” he argued, suggesting that the idea that “the government should be exploded, destroyed” was not conservative, if the word was defined as “liking the status quo, as wanting it to be limited government but understanding that there are two parties in the system, a little give and take.”

@JD: I’ll skip it. I’ve lived this many years in life without knowing, so I’ll continue on and let someone else know whatever. Most of my years have been so harried and busy that if it’s a sexual connotation on it, than I haven’t the foggiest.

I’ll save you the pain. Several years ago Sullivan posted a profile on a gay sex hookup site where he said he was a big fan of “barebacking” (unprotected anal sex) and ” milky loads”. He also said he was hiv positive.
He also went and got himself busted.
Next up for Sullivan, a country and western album. To show Hank Williams, Jr. what real country is.

Leave it to Andrew Sullivan. It’s been 24 hours since I offered $100,000 for the full list and contents of the Ezra Klein’s four-year experiment in political-journalist editorial collusion — the on line progressive jazz fusion station known as JournoList. It took 24 hours for Sullivan to proclaim that all the rules now were broken.

Between airing Palin’s hacked private emails and making a cottage industry out of challenging the maternity of her son, Trig, sometimes the word “irony” or “hypocrisy” is not descriptive enough.
