Breaking: Cain Tells Staff He’s “Reassessing” Candidacy — Update: On Latest Allegations, “We Have To Do An Assessment To See If This Is Going To Create Too Much Of a Cloud”…

Via NRO:

In a conference call this morning, Herman Cain told his senior staff that he is “reassessing” whether to remain in the race. He told them he will make his final decision “over the next several days.”

Update: National Review has the text of what was said. Here’s a partial transcript, NRO has the rest.

. . .“Obviously, you’re all aware of this recent firestorm that hit the news yesterday,” Cain began, his voice somber. “First thing I want to do is say to you what I have said publicly: I deny those charges, unequivocally. Secondly, I have known this lady for a number of years. And thirdly, I have been attempting to help her financially because she was out of work and destitute, desperate. So, thinking that she was a friend — and I have helped many friends — I now know that she wasn’t the friend that I thought she was. But it was a just a friendship relationship.”

“That being said, obviously, this is cause for reassessment,” he continued. “As you know, during the summer we had to make some reassessments based upon our financial situation. We were able to hang in there; we reassessed the situation and kept on going. We also did a reassessment after the Iowa straw poll and we made another reassessment after the Florida straw poll. When the previous two accusations, false accusations, came about, we made another assessment. The way we handled those was, we continued on with our schedule. We made an assessment about what was going to happen to our support. But our supporters, and even some folks that we didn’t have as supporters, they stood with us, and they showed it not only in terms of their verbal support, they showed it in terms of their dollars.”

“Now, with this latest one, we have to do an assessment as to whether or not this is going to create too much of a cloud, in some people’s minds, as to whether or not they would be able to support us going forth,” Cain said.

Endorse Gingrich! Hopefully we can get all the pro-adultery conservatives to concentrate behind their mascot and then defeat them AND the RINOs behind Romneycare.

The high likelihood of his implosion is why I became a Perry donor in October – even though I had an absolute thrill up my leg for Cain.

    USAP-

I just think that your statements are irrational.

Do you hold Cain personally responsible for Perry’s lame candidacy?

He’s my second choice, but quite frankly has a questionable record involving much crony-capitalism, questionable immigration positions, and abuse of executive privilege.

And how the heck isn’t he taking advantage of the power gaps that have appeared before him since the lying whores came out against Cain?

I don’t trust him, but I trust him more than Gingrich who I believe is a duplicitous bastard with progressive ideas swirling around in his big brain. See Donald Berwick.

Oh well. ABOOR. My order is Cain, Perry, Gingrich. I’m not emotionally attached to anyone except for my hatred of Obama and Romney.

You must have one of two Jungian personality attributes to have seen this coming with Cain:

    1. Extraverted Judgment – around 12% of the population – applies rules to external facts
    2. Extraverted Intuition – around 4% of the population

So basically, only 16% of the population had the basic potential to predict Cain’s downfall based on the information we had two months ago. And half of them are below-average intelligence, so make that 8%.

“Over the next several days, we are going to continue with the schedule as usual,” he said. “I’ve got a major speech tonight at Hillsdale College on national security and foreign policy, and I will deliver it with vim, vigor, and enthusiasm. And then tomorrow we’ve got some media appearances scheduled. So we’re going to continue until we complete our assessment over the next several days.”

“But if a decision is made, different than to plow ahead, you all will be the first to know,” he said. “So until that time, I want to continue to thank you all for your support, thank you for your prayers. It’s taken an emotional toll, but the people in the audience tonight will never know it.”

“It’s also taken a toll on my wife and family, as you would imagine,” he concluded. “Any time you put another cloud of doubt, unfortunately, in the court of public opinion, for some people, you’re guilty until proven innocent. And so, the public will have to decide whether they believe her or whether they believe me. That’s why we’re going to give it time, to see what type of response we get from our supporters.”http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/284321/breaking-cain-reassessing-candidacy-robert-costa

I’m not condoning adultery, in any way.
My point is, the prog scum can kill, rape, molest and assault women with impunity.
    ie:
teddy kennedy was given the respectful title of “Lion of the Senate.” This, after he left a woman to drown in a canal.
bill clinton is considered an elder statesman of the dim party after multiple savage attacks on women.

Cain is a paragon of virtue compared to these violent criminal sobs on the left.

  54. John C says:

I am horribly confused. The lefties are using a person’s sexuality (whether the allegations are true or not is hard to say) as a means of attacking him. Aren’t these the same people who want to teach kindergarten kids about sex and sexuality, hand out condoms to kids in middle school, inundate them with sex on TV, tell them that gay sex is far better than heterosexual sex, sell sex in movies, magazines, TV shows, ads, billboards, malls, etc. Then, when these people who have grown up with all of this are caught having sex they use it against them?

They ought to be parading Cain as a tribute to their success!

Oh yeah, he’s a conservative. If he were a black liberal candidate they would.

  55. rboa says:

I wonder how much money these whores got paid by them? And another thing, the more one tells a lie, the more it becomes the truth. This is a travesty. It’s not how good a president can be, it’s all about how much money they have to throw at a campaign and smear the opponents in any way possible.

It’s really pretty sad that the majority of the public are too stupid or ignorant to make a reasonable assessment of the situation, so they just go with the bullshit the media is paid by obama and the leftist commies to report. Way to go dumbass America!

Adultery leads to divorce, which breaks up families. Broken families produce most of the criminals and welfare recipients that justify a massive, liberty-depriving nanny state.

Adultery is therefore aggression against freedom and family and is one of the most heinous of all non-violent offenses. It is a crime and should be treated as such.

If you don’t want to be criminally liable for adultery, your options are fidelity and bachelorhood, both of which are enviable positions to be in.

If it were merely a moral issue, I would not be in favor of criminalization.

Adultery is a crime because it is intentional conduct that harms society by breaking up families which creates generational cycles of criminality and dependency.

Please stop being dishonest with your straw man about morality. My objection is not religious or moral, but based on the harm principle. Adultery is a crime for the same reason it is a crime to steal or contribute to the delinquency of a minor – it hurts people you have no right to hurt.

This isn’t masturbation or pornography – the harm to society caused by adultery is measurable and massive.

    Cain on Libya-

“Told he was being asked if he agreed with how Mr. Obama handled the uprising in Libya, Cain said, “I would have done a better job of determining who the opposition is. And I’m sure that our intelligence people had some of that information. Based upon who made up that opposition, OK, based upon who made up that opposition, might have caused me to make some different decisions about how we participated.”

“Secondly, no I did not agree with Qaddafi killing his citizens. Absolutely not. So something would have had to been – I would have supported many of the things that they did in order to help stop that. It’s not a simple yes/no because there are different pieces and I would have gone about assessing the situation differently, which might have caused us to end up at the same place, but where I think more could have been done is what’s the nature of the opposition.”

I, for lack of better words, do not think adultery is a criminal offense against society. It should be settled between a couple and their children if old enough to be aware of the situation. I don’t even think the person who had the affair with the adulterer should be brought into it either….they can’t be an innocent bystander whose words will lend anything to the conversation as it will always be biased. But, if a couple’s joint assets are given/used/gifted to the adulterer that takes it to a whole new rhelm too. Like abortion, it really comes down to free will and how you use it. Ultimately, it’s between you and God – whether the spouse ever learns of the affair or not. I’ve always told my husband, “tell me first if you ever even think about it or S&W is liable to be my choice for arbitration.” ;)
