(CNSNews.com) — The Obama administration is again playing down concerns about the rise of Islamist movements in Arab countries in transition, even as developments in Tunisia, Libya, Morocco and Egypt indicate that the so-called “Arab spring” may leave Islamists in charge clear across North Africa
Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood is widely expected to dominate parliamentary elections that began without incident on Monday and will be held in three stages over the next six weeks.
“We regard these elections as a blessed portal through which Egypt shall cross safely to democracy and the transfer of power to the Egyptian people,” the Muslim Brotherhood’s political wing, the Freedom and Justice Party, said in a statement as the polls opened.
Asked during a briefing about the election and the possibility of Islamists winning, White House press secretary Jay Carney replied, “The fact of the matter is, the democratic process is what’s important.”

Actually this sounds alot like George W Bush when he was pushing for democratic elections in Gaza after Israel’s hand off of it to the Palestinians. EVERYONE knew those people were extremists and would elect hard-line Islamists, but Bush didn’t care. This is exactly why democratic governments simply do not work wherever muslims are the majority: They will always elect the most extremist Islamic government possible, and by definition the two are mutually exclusive.
The democratic process for Carney is where the Dimocrats get a 100% of the grave yard and State prisons vote. How many Moose Slime Bro Hood Members are in the current administration excluding the ones in DHS.

I remember watching the riots in Tehran in 1979 during the hostage crisis. Fists pumping in the air, men screaming and chanting in Arabic, all wearing that “islamic rage-boy” face.
Nothing has changed in the Middle East- it’s only gotten much, much worse.
Agree with you 100% JenBee. Actually, Bush’s assertion that Islam was a religion of peace is what inspired me to become more informed about Islam. I so wanted to believe him. Yet it wasn’t to be, the more I learned about Islam the more convinced I was that Islam is a religion of death.
Far too many folks in the West see democracy as the ultimate desired result, not what the people elect with that democracy. Muslims will always vote for Islam and Shariah law. Europe is already learning this painful fact, will we awake before it’s too late?
