LAPD Forced To Wear Hazmat Suits To Clean Up Occupier Camp, Protesters “Storing Human Waste For Unknown Reasons”…

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Trash, flattened tents and the stench of urine were the legacy of Occupy Los Angeles on Wednesday after hundreds of protesters were arrested or chased out of their City Hall park encampment.
City crews erected chain link fence and concrete barricades around the park at dawn, six hours after 1,400 police officers swarmed the area.
Later in the morning, police officers in white hazardous materials suits prowled the park in search of personal belongings to store for retrieval by protesters.
“A lot of this stuff is contaminated with urine and feces and who knows what,” Cmdr. Andrew Smith said.
The encampment turned the once-lush City Hall lawns into patches of dirt strewn with tons of debris — clothing, tents, bedding, shoes, trash and other human flotsam that accumulated during the past two months.

Police Lieutenant Andy Neiman said before the operation that some protesters had been reported to be storing human waste at the site for unknown reasons. He later said police entering the camp encountered “a horrible stench.” The grounds were strewn with collapsed tents, trash and other debris.

The fear turned out to be unfounded as the protesters did NOT throw poop.
There were about 20 port o potties on site which kept things sanitary. There were though a percentage of chronically homeless and other mentally challenged individuals who move into the camp. You can find a pretty nasty stink anywhere on the streets of any city where the mentally unstable and homeless are left to rot.

The demonstrators remained non violent and non confrontational, as did the LAPD. Cudos to both.

First some back story: as reported on the front page of the Richmond Times Dispatch, the Richmond Tea Party delivered an invoice for charges incurred in our previous three Tax Day rallies at Kanawha Plaza because Mayor Jones chose to allow Occupy Richmond protesters to convene in the same park for two weeks.
The Mayor not only allowed the Occupiers to break the law, but he visited them in the city-owned park. “Jones said that as a ‘child of civil rights’ and protests, he had allowed the group to remain in the park but understands his mayoral responsibility to uphold laws of the city,” reported the Richmond Times Dispatch.
Apparently his mayoral duties included preferential treatment for a group he sympathizes with ideologically at the expense of the taxpayers.

I went to the Chicago site, to talk to all 7 protesters spread out on 3 corners. It was 80 degrees out that day (so don’t blame the weather for the low numbers and I have pictures to prove it), none of them knew who Tim Geithner, Warren Buffet or Brian Moynihan were even though they say they were protesting BofA, the Fed, and Wall Street.
