(Salon) — If you have the stomach to listen to enough right-wing talk radio, or troll enough right-wing websites, you inevitably come upon fear-mongering about the Unassimilated Muslim. Essentially, this caricature suggests that Muslims in America are more loyal to their religion than to the United States, that such allegedly traitorous loyalties prove that Muslims refuse to assimilate into our nation and that Muslims are therefore a national security threat.
Earlier this year, a Gallup poll illustrated just how apocryphal this story really is. It found that Muslim Americans are one of the most — if not the single most — loyal religious group to the United States. Now, comes the flip side from the Pew Research Center’s stunning findings about other religious groups in America. [...]
If, as Islamophobes argue, refusing to assimilate is defined as expressing loyalty to a religion before loyalty to country, then this data suggests it is evangelical Christians who are very resistant to assimilation. And yet, few would cite these findings to argue that Christians pose a serious threat to America’s national security. Why the double standard?

Show us one evangelical who has put their faith in front of their country or made a statement to that extent in the past year, because it wouldn’t be too hard to drum up hundreds of examples (and audio clips) of American Muslims doing just that. In America, Christians don’t have to choose whether to be loyal to their religion OR to their country. Scripture and the Constitution both allow them to be loyal to Christianity AND the United States at the same time.
On the other hand, the Koran specifically tells Muslims their ONLY true loyalty is to Islam and the Ummah (the Musim community), and that any loyalty to specific nation, infidel, or group of infidels should only be given for the sake of political expediency/expedient dissimulation(taqiyyah).
Lets see it was Christians that bombed Khobar towers, USS. Cole, flew planes into World Trade Center, Shot our people at Fort Hood. Now i get it all Christians are terrorist.
Who comes first, Jesus or America?
Well ask yourself this: which one would you rather have as an enemy? An all-powerful, all-knowing, extra-temporal deity who sends almost every human soul to eternal damnation and can destroy the universe by omission, or a puny human government so inept it can’t secure its own border?

Salon has apparently missed the fact that Christians haven’t been flying airplanes into buildings full of innocent civilians or strapping on suicide bombs.
As usual with polls, the questions are worded very generally, then the answers skewed to “prove” a point. The Pew poll question was “What do you consider yourself first”- Nationality or Christian. (How can Muslims even answer that question, as they are not ‘Christian’!) It does not ask about loyalty or would you defend your country. Typical liberal bias toward Christians. I’m sure they’re counting on telling the masses the lies long enough and they’ll start to believe them.

Funny I find this today, because I was told I would put my religion before country by a “conservative” on a con-site. Why? Because Im catholic. So it comes from both sides. I made no other statement other than I’m a catholic, and they got that from it.
Someone should tell Salon that Jesus said “give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.
Therefore, Christians understand the difference between the allegiance owed to their country and the allegiance owed to God. One does not top the other since each is concerned with different things.
