LAPD Forced To Wear Hazmat Suits To Clean Up Occupier Camp, Protesters “Storing Human Waste For Unknown Reasons”…

Disgusting slobs.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Trash, flattened tents and the stench of urine were the legacy of Occupy Los Angeles on Wednesday after hundreds of protesters were arrested or chased out of their City Hall park encampment.

City crews erected chain link fence and concrete barricades around the park at dawn, six hours after 1,400 police officers swarmed the area.

Later in the morning, police officers in white hazardous materials suits prowled the park in search of personal belongings to store for retrieval by protesters.

“A lot of this stuff is contaminated with urine and feces and who knows what,” Cmdr. Andrew Smith said.

The encampment turned the once-lush City Hall lawns into patches of dirt strewn with tons of debris — clothing, tents, bedding, shoes, trash and other human flotsam that accumulated during the past two months.

Then there is this disturbing report from Reuters:

Police Lieutenant Andy Neiman said before the operation that some protesters had been reported to be storing human waste at the site for unknown reasons. He later said police entering the camp encountered “a horrible stench.” The grounds were strewn with collapsed tents, trash and other debris.

Lefty Rag Salon Tries To Make The Case For Evangelical Christians Being a National Security Threat…

How do you respond to something this stupid?

(Salon) — If you have the stomach to listen to enough right-wing talk radio, or troll enough right-wing websites, you inevitably come upon fear-mongering about the Unassimilated Muslim. Essentially, this caricature suggests that Muslims in America are more loyal to their religion than to the United States, that such allegedly traitorous loyalties prove that Muslims refuse to assimilate into our nation and that Muslims are therefore a national security threat.

Earlier this year, a Gallup poll illustrated just how apocryphal this story really is. It found that Muslim Americans are one of the most — if not the single most — loyal religious group to the United States. Now, comes the flip side from the Pew Research Center’s stunning findings about other religious groups in America. [...]

If, as Islamophobes argue, refusing to assimilate is defined as expressing loyalty to a religion before loyalty to country, then this data suggests it is evangelical Christians who are very resistant to assimilation. And yet, few would cite these findings to argue that Christians pose a serious threat to America’s national security. Why the double standard?

Harry Reid Says Dems Will Make Blaming Bush Their 2012 Campaign Strategy…

Hey, it’s not like Obama has had three years in office . . . no, wait?

Via Politico:

The Senate’s top two Democratic and Republican leaders agree on at least one thing: Democrats will try to make the 2012 election about George W. Bush.

After occupying the White House for three years, Democrats will try to blame everyone but themselves, including the Bush administration, for the sour economy and jobs crisis, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Wednesday in a floor exchange with Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Reid, a Nevada Democrat and close ally of President Barack Obama, conceded that McConnell wasn’t completely off base.

“I do think the presidential election will be based on what took place in the Bush administration, how we tried to recover from that, how things have been exacerbated because of the tsunami and European debt crisis,” Reid said.

Not to mention this strategy could easily backfire as the Bush years look a million times better than those under Obama.

Occupy Wall Street Leader Slams Miley Cyrus Over Video, Says She Is All Talk…

Here’s Cyrus’ video is case you missed it:

I’m shocked, Miley seemed so genuine in her support.*

Via TMZ:

An influential leader in the Occupy movement wants less talk and more action from Miley Cyrus, telling TMZ the singer’s recent music video in “support” of the Occupy movement is nothing but an empty gesture.

Priscilla Grim — co-editor of “The Occupied Wall Street Journal” — tells TMZ that Miley’s music video tribute “rocks” in spirit, but she doubts the singer has the guts to actually hit the streets.

“I double dog dare [her] to fight on the front line of economic civil rights at LA City Hall,” Grim said. “Revolutionaries occupy, Ms. Cyrus.”

Allen West: It’s Time For Cain To “Move On”…

Only a matter of time.

(The Hill) — Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) said Wednesday he would advise Herman Cain to let voters “move on” from the distraction of his campaign.

Cain told his campaign this week it is time to “reassess” in light of the resurfacing of old sexual harassment allegations and new accusations this week that he carried on a 13-year affair.

“Beyond reassessing his campaign, he probably needs to understand that he is a distracter for what’s going on right now and we should move on,” West told WMAL’s radio show “Morning Majority.”

West, a Tea Party favorite, indicated Cain is already out of the running and the GOP nomination field has come down to “a two-man race.”

He named Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, currently the front-runners in the polls, as the two most likely contenders. West said Romney, who has polled at around 24 percent nationally for months, has “hit a plateau” and called Gingrich, who came up from well behind to become a front-runner within the last few weeks, “very viable” as a candidate.

Obama’s Stimulus Funded Bill Ayers Pet Project…

Surprised? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

Via KleinOnline

. . . In one revelation, the book details how the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, or ARRA, provided $650 million to the Investing in Innovation Fund, or i3, as it is called. That year, Duncan announced his agency was accepting applications for i3 grants from educational nonprofits, individual school districts or groups of districts.

The winning i3 grantees included the Erikson Institute in Chicago, which requested just shy of $5 million for its project, “Achieving High Standards for Pre-K-Grade 3 Mathematics: A Whole Teacher Approach to Professional Development.”

One of the three faculty founders, and president of the institute from 1994 to 2001, is Barbara Taylor Bowman, the Irving B. Harris Professor of Child Development. Bowman is the mother of Valerie Jarrett.

In December 2009, Duncan honored Bowman at a luncheon. Bowman served as Duncan’s consultant on early learning for the first six months after he was named secretary of education.

Others in Obama’s orbit associated with the Erikson Institute include one of its former trustees and members of the executive committee — the late Thomas Ayers, father of Bill Ayers. Dohrn, Bill Ayers’ wife, also served on the Erikson board.

DNC Spokesman: “The Economy Would Have Gone Straight In The Toilet Without Barney Frank’s Leadership”…

Speechless.

Via Radio Equalizer

BRAD WOODHOUSE, DNC SPOKESMAN: He’s [Barney Frank] been so vital to the country at what he’s done over the past several years, especially after the president [Obama] got into office. He was chairing the committee that was working with Senator Dodd that set up these consumer protections, which incredibly Republicans are fighting. [...]

Look in fact the economy would have gone straight in the toilet if not for Barney Frank and his leadership.

McDonald’s Outsmarts San Francisco’s Happy Meal Ban, Make More Money In The Process…

McDonald’s 1 — San Fran Nanny State 0

Via SF Weekly:

On Thursday, Dec. 1, the city’s de facto ban of the Happy Meal commences. San Francisco has accomplished what the Hamburglar could not. Or has it?

In order to include a toy with a meal, restaurants must now comply with city-generated nutritional standards. Those are standards that even the “healthier” Happy Meals McDonald’s introduced earlier this year don’t come close to meeting.

And yet it seems McDonald’s has turned lemons into lemonade — and is selling the sugary drink to San Francisco’s children. Local McDonald’s employees tell SF Weekly the company has devised a solution that appears to comply with San Francisco’s “Healthy Meal Incentive Ordinance” that could actually make the company more money — and necessitate toy-happy youngsters to buy more Happy Meals.

It turns out San Francisco has not entirely vanquished the Happy Meal as we know it. Come Dec. 1, you can still buy the Happy Meal. But it doesn’t come with a toy. For that, you’ll have to pay an extra 10 cents.

Huh. That hardly seems to have solved the problem (though adults and children purchasing unhealthy food can at least take solace that the 10 cents is going to Ronald McDonald House charities). But it actually gets worse from here. Thanks to Supervisor Eric Mar’s much-ballyhooed new law, parents browbeaten into supplementing their preteens’ Happy Meal toy collections are now mandated to buy the Happy Meals.
