Amnesty International Calls For Bush’s Arrest During Trip To Africa For “Torturing” Al-Qaeda Suspects…

Not going to happen, Bush is widely loved across Africa.

Via Fox News:

With former President George W. Bush traveling this week in Africa to promote AIDS relief efforts and to raise awareness of cervical and breast cancer, Amnesty International is urging three nations to arrest him during his visit for “crimes under international law.”

The world’s largest human rights group said Thursday that “there is enough evidence in the public domain” to justify either Ethiopia, Tanzania and Zambia arresting the former president during his expected visit to the region, which started Thursday and lasts until Monday. Bush is traveling with his wife, Laura, and daughter, Barbara.

The three nations should investigate “his alleged involvement in and responsibility for torture,” the group said.

“All countries to which George W. Bush travels have an obligation to bring him to justice for his role in torture,” said Matt Pollard, senior legal adviser for the American branch of AI.

Saying the president’s visit is notable for its public awareness campaign on women’s cancer, the group said the humanitarian nature of the mission does not “lessen the damage to the fight against torture caused by allowing someone who has admitted to authorizing waterboarding to travel without facing the consequences prescribed by law.”

I’m pretty sick of hearing all this whining about water boarding by Bush when bullets in the brain approved by Obama are cheered.

Funny how I never hear AI or any other libtard socialist group calling for the prosecution of commies, russians, arabs, muslims, etc for their documented human rights violations. And I don’t hear them calling for the arrest of Obama who is continuing the policies of George W. Bush. Strange. It’s almost like AI is some front partisan group for the democrap party.

I guess we should just pretend that all the info aquired by waterboarding didn’t make the killing of bin Laden possible?

That’s what O and his bots are doing anyway, and while we’re at it, lets pretend Panetta didn’t say as much.

Africans like Bush because he sent them tens of billions of US taxpayer dollars for public health, particularly AIDS, while millions of American citizens had no healthcare.

At heart, he’s another open-borders globalist.

Amnesty International, instead of going after the US president that has done more for Africa than any other for imagined atrocities, why don’t you get involved in stopping ACTUAL atrocities that are being perpetrated against Christians in an escalating manner by al Qaeda-linked Boko Haram in Nigeria?

Amnesty International–working night and day to seek justice for Muslim criminals while ignoring non-Muslim victims

Bush did more for the Africans than any other leader of any country.
But of course, if he defended OUR country against the muzz.. well he should be arrested!

I would love to know who funds AI? Anyone know? If it’s Americans, which I strongly suspect, Congress needs to address that issue. After all, the next to be arrested could be Obama.

Amnesty International is a left-wing fringe group anyway. They deplored the execution of Saddam Hussein, while claiming that human rights violations have increased following the U.S. invasion in 2003. Reading their site, you get a real feeling that have a “can’t we all get along?” and “everyone shares responsibility” mentality that fails to take into account that there are evil powerful people and evil corrupt regimes and religions that don’t give a tinker’s damn what they do to have power. Some of the AI analysis of human rights is okay but some violations in Communist and Muslim countries seem to be treated tepidly compared to their rhetoric against Bush water boarding scum to save lives. Oh and not a word about Muslims targeting Christians in Egypt, Iran or Nigeria. In Sudan “all sides to the conflict continue to commit violations of international humanitarian law” I read that to mean that the Christians defending themselves against Muslim attacks are equally at fault. Oh and Israel is a bad boy too. Why didn’t they call for Ahmidinajhad’s arrest when he came to New York?

Amnesty International Votes for “Defensive” Jihad

    http://frontpagemag.com/2010/04/23/amnesty-international-votes-for-defensive-jihad/

FP: Andy McCarthy, welcome to Frontpage Interview.

Amnesty International supports individuals such as Former Gitmo detainee Moazzam Begg. Tell us what exactly is going on here.

McCarthy: Jamie, it’s great to be here, as always.

People need to understand what Amnesty International is: a hard-left political organization. It is one of the bastions of what John Fonte calls transnational progressivism, and it’s agenda is a post-sovereign world theoretically governed by an abstraction AI calls “international humanitarian law” but, as a practical matter, ruled by the leftists who make up what this purported corpus of “law” means as they go along (just as they make up what “social justice” and other such abstractions mean to suit the exigencies of the moment).

This is not to say that AI is without authentic human rights activists. There are many people who are dawn to AI because of its admirable historic mission to pressure authoritarian governments that are serial human-rights violators. But as an institution, AI is a just another leftist hack, and the country it most chooses to pressure is the United States, for the American people’s great crimes of being free and self-determining and being uninterested in a post-sovereign order, and for pursuing our interests in the world, including our national security.

McCarthy: Moazzam Begg is a Taliban jihadist and former Gitmo detainee. The invaluable Tom Joscelyn (of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies) has done a great deal of work exposing him — such as in this Weekly Standard essay, which collects other Begg links. Much like CAIR, Begg has discovered that if you swaddle your Islamist activism in the rhetoric of human rights, and be sure to target the United States and Israel as the cause of the world’s problem, the hack leftist organizations will flock to you regardless of the atrocities you’re willing to commit or defend. Thus has AI made common cause with Begg and his British organization, “Cageprisoners.” That this should happen is not at all surprising to anyone who does a comparative study of leftist ideology and Islamist ideology — which is the subject of a book I’ve just finished, The Grand Jihad: How Islam and the Left Sabotage America, to be released by Encounter Books in late May.

According to what I see noted on thread above, it would be far toooooooo much to expect that Amnesty Internat’l get it’s priorities figured out.

Whether a person is/was a supporter of GWB, in all honesty I’d just have to say he simply looks huggable. I don’t, if ever, say that about President’s! Or just anybody, either!
