Government Motors Offers To Buy Back All Chevy Volts…
More bad news for the official car of the Obama administration.
NEW YORK (AP) — General Motors will buy Chevrolet Volts back from any owner who is afraid the electric cars will catch fire, the company’s CEO said Thursday.
In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, CEO Dan Akerson insisted that the cars are safe, but said the company will purchase the Volts because it wants to keep customers happy. Three fires have broken out in Volts after side-impact crash tests done by the federal government.
Akerson said that if necessary, GM will recall the more than 6,000 Volts now on the road in the U.S. and repair them once the company and federal safety regulators figure out what caused the fires.
“If we find that is the solution, we will retrofit every one of them,” Akerson said. “We’ll make it right.”

Actually, since only the rich can afford an Obama Dolt, this sounds like a rebate for the rich. It isn’t fair that the buybacks apply only to those who bought the car. I didn’t buy one, but I’m entitled to the money too!!

GM is stuffing the dealerships with record inventory so barry can improve the overall economic numbers. I guess since no one is buying the cars, the next thing we will hear about is a bill passing Congress whereby welfare recipients get free cars.
GE is committed for 12,000 by ’15, so we might see Immelt make some type of show of support. Even if he took delivery of faulty models, GM could repair or replace them in the future.

I have been a loyal Saab owner for over 20 yrs………GM bought it and destroyed it. I never had a single problem with my Saabs as they were still made in Sweden. I always made sure the origin of assembly and the engine were done in Sweden………… it gives me 34MPG on the highway and 24MPG in town, better than the new GREEN cars……..now it is going to be extinct……..glad my 2003 9-5 only has 60,000 miles……..I will keep it along as I can……..and I will never buy a government motors car or chrysler….EVER! They wanted Saab technology and then screwed them over.

Only 6,000 were sold. Excuse me!!!! The press reports were all about how great the Volt was doing . Reading them one would think millions of Volts were being sold. I think a huge part of the 6,000 were sold to GE. GE of course used taxpayer money to get them and probably got the $7000.00 deduction to boot.
Government FAIL.
Lemme understand this, taxpayers money to bail out this Co and make this car, now more taxpayer money buy the damn things back?
