    Smack.

If Newt wins the nomination, he’ll need a Tea Party conservative to balance the ticket.

    I agree with WM.

Also, we could really use Bolton as Secretary of State.

Yes, Bolton would be great. West for VP too.

  4. Xavier says:
    December 9, 2011 at 10:13 am

Bolton would be wasted as VP. He needs to do some un-bowing to the rest of the world as SoS.

  5. ajm says:
    December 9, 2011 at 10:14 am

Yeah, Bolton would make a superior Secretary of State.

VP Col. Allen West would be fantastic.

  6. Rufus says:
    December 9, 2011 at 10:15 am

Bolton would be wasted as VP.
He’d make a terrific Sec of State.
Allen West is already locked in as VP anyway.

Agree with Xavier & ajm. SoS is best for Bolton. Pick a younger up and coming TRUE conservative for VP. West, Ryan, etc.

I won’t smack it down.. there really is no better choice at this time.. But Bolton should be the front runner…. Not a VP… The VP’S don’t really seem to have to much say in the way the country is run.. With Biden being our VP that maybe a good thing.. Of course having obama as president is the worse thing to ever happen to America.

    perfect choice for SecState

he actually knows and would promote policies to benefit and Protect AMERICA

Egads! My liberal friends, who do NOT want to vote for Obama and have said they would sit out the election, have told me they would turn out if Gingrich is the nominee. Their vote for Obama would be an anti-Gingrich vote. With that said, whoever is the nominee should ask West to serve as VP and ask Bolton as Sec. of State.

So if we are going wild here — how about Palin for Secretaty of the Interior.

  14. JooJooB says:
    December 9, 2011 at 10:37 am

I’m all in for Newt at this time, not that I particularly dislike the others, I just think he’s the best choice … I’m a little pissed that the others are so chickenshit they won’t debate … they can try to spin it anyway they want, but they are terrified of facing Newt in a debate … he’d annihilate them … chickens!

On the other hand, everyone is freaking out, everyone is terrified of Newt .. the right and the left … so I’ll back him and they can go back to the farm.

Bolton would be an amazing Sec State .. restore respect for America.

I don’t know about West as VP, its too low key a position, pick someone who is sociable, someone who can get out and mingle with the people (not that West couldn’t, just that he has real power and it should not be wasted). West for Sec Def.

  15. veldy says:
    December 9, 2011 at 10:46 am

Bolton would be great Secy of State-VP job is bucket of warm spit, why do you think Isuzu Joe got the slot. And everyone singing Bolton’s praises should also take note of who he’s hitched his wagon to.

    Palin for Sec. Int.?

Sounds great to me, she is a strong, smart, valuable American.

  17. joefriday says:

Stache is a great choice. Gingrich, not so much.

  18. Xavier says:
    December 9, 2011 at 10:53 am

    @Ted

I’m with you on Palin for Interior. Or maybe DOE. In fact, I’d like to see the entire cabinet put together and announced before the primaries.

PS: Malkin, Beck, and Coulter on Press Secretary rotation.

  19. veldy says:
    December 9, 2011 at 10:54 am

Yes, Palin would be excellent Secy of Interior, and should merge Energy into Interior

  20. Fukitol says:
    December 9, 2011 at 10:54 am

You people clamoring for West as VP, really want 4 more years of Obama.

This 2012 election is serious business people. Probably the most important election in your lifetimes and you want a freshman congressman on the ticket?

    Smarten up.

  21. deez says:
    December 9, 2011 at 10:58 am

I think Bolton’s better in a diplomatic role (SoS) than a more “political” one like VP.

  22. hoodaticus says:
    December 9, 2011 at 11:16 am

Isn’t Bob Dole still around? Because his chances are at least as good as Newt’s.

  23. Fukitol says:
    December 9, 2011 at 11:25 am

    Hood,

After Romney and Paul get done tearing down Newt, about the only place left to turn is either Santorum or Perry.

Romney is stuck at 20 to 25%.

Newt is being savaged by fellow Republicans and will suffer for it.

Perry is blowing his whole wad in Iowa. Then what?

Bachmann hurt herself badly with the Gardisil rant.

Paul is stuck at about 10% at best.

Cain out and not a moment too soon.

Santorum may start getting a second look.

Pawlenty is crying in a towel somewhere.

  24. Disgusted says:
    December 9, 2011 at 11:33 am

To win this thing, Newt needs to keep naming names – people who will complement him and shore up his weaknesses – real and perceived.

Newt has to surround himself with the grounded, experienced people who have unblemished credentials. Starting the list with Bolton, in any capacity, is the right first step.

The entire O-team illustrates a cautionary tale of an entire administration gone wrong.

  25. Captain Steve says:
    December 9, 2011 at 11:48 am

Newt was for TARP and an individual mandate for healthcare. Neither he nor Mittens are conservatives.

Love Stache as Sec. of State. ;)

    I don’t eat food anymore – your cynicism sustains me :) .

  27. Nanna says:

I still find it a mystery that a generic Republican, can beat Obama, yet they say that he can beat both Newt, and Mitt. (according to a poll on Fox this morning.)
Smells very fishy to me. What’s going on?

  28. USAP says:
    December 9, 2011 at 12:08 pm

I cannot believe people that call themselves conservatives are even considering Gingrich. Romney is more conservative than Newt.

First, If Newt gets the nomination, picking Bolton would spell doom for the ticket, being the most non-telegenic ticket since Dukakis-Benson.

Newt has a handicap in that regard already as the michelin man.

Sorry to sound superficial but it is a political reality with the American electorate.

Newt can beat Obama if he gets the nomination. Newt told two groups yesterday that he would pick Bolton for Secretary of State.

Bolton is an interventionist and came out for drawing a line with Russia on the Ossettia war with Georgia. This is not a US concern.

Bolton was more critical of Obama’s tactics in Libya than of the mission itself.

Bolton is more respectful of the Constitution than Hillary or Obama but is too much of a neo-con. And I am for bombing Iran’s enrichment sites and rocket installations.

As long as Marco Rubio , who is an opportunist RINO neo-con, is not elevated to any national office, I could live with Newt as the President. Rubio was just blocked in an attempt to include Georgia in NATO. And Rubio backed Obama in the Libya fiasco.

I still see Newt as a tad better than Romney with certain trade-offs. Neither of them are conservatives.

It would sure beat Obama/Biden! I often thought that if obummer were to be relieved of his duties it would be Biden calling the shots–now that is scary! I do agree with other posters here–Alan West would be an awesome choice, but he does not seem interested in jumping up the ladder–yet.
