WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says a bipartisan compromise reached by the Senate is the “only viable way” to prevent a tax increase on Jan. 1.
In a surprise appearance in the White House briefing room on Tuesday, the president said a “faction” of Republicans in the House is refusing to vote on a Senate bill that would extend a payroll tax cut for two months.
Obama said, “The clock is ticking. Time is running out.”
The president said House Republicans are trying to “wring concessions” from Democrats on issues that “have nothing to do with the payroll tax cut.”
Obama says lawmakers owe it to the American people “to come together and do the right thing.”

It’s my understanding that this two months payroll tax cut would wreak havoc on those required to do the bookkeeping in small to medium sized businesses that do not use a payroll service. They would find themselves in non-compliance and be fined thousands for nothing more than their inability to fulfill an impossible task sent out by Congress.

Sounds to me like O and the dems want to make sure they get six more chances next year to pass new bills, allowing them to slip in more chances for $$ for their constituents. A new crisis every two months beats the heck out of a long-term agreement. Besides, if Barry says it’s so important for the “tax cut” (really a Social Security funding cut) why is two months better than 12 months? hmmmmm
And Obama wants all this as a political ploy to earn his reelection. So who is really playing games.
And they wonder why employers won’t commit to hiring more people. Since Barry was elected businesses don’t know what’s going to happen from one day to the next. There is no way to forecast, no way to create a plan or a budget. One day your got Obamacare staring you in the face and regulations coming at you so fast that you put you head down and keep it down.
