U.S. Postal Service Orders Carrier to Stop Dressing Like Santa…
All it takes is for one miserable person to complain and they fold like a cheap suit.
The U.S. Postal Service has ordered a letter carrier to stop wearing a Santa Claus outfit after a co-worker complained.
Bob McLean has been dressing up as Santa for the past decade, donning a red suit to deliver the mail along his route in Bellevue, WA. He even has a snow white beard — that’s real.
“The government is shutting me down because it’s a non-postal regulation uniform, McLean told the Bellevue Reporter. “This was the first time; I don’t know what happened. I don’t step on anyone’s toes. Being Santa isn’t religious to me; it’s secular. It’s about giving.” [...]
“He had been doing this for some and there had not been an issue and a couple of weeks ago one of his fellow carriers raised the issue with management,” Swanson said. “The postmaster acknowledges that until one of his fellow carriers made an issue out of it he was okay with it,” Swanson said.

For safety purposes I am not sure having a person dressed as Santa delivering mail is a good idea simply because there are so many crazies out there, BUT if this dude has been a “secular Santa” for years and it’s a tradition then have at it. I wouldn’t complain about it, I would simply observe to be sure it is my mailman if I was home and saw him.

The Postal Service is full of BS here. I noticed over the years that the P.O. “progressively” started removing anything remotely pertaining to the Christmas season. The stars and angels started disappearing from trees displayed, and a few years back trees were not being displayed anymore period. Lot’s of “Holiday” decorations can be seen inside though. It is purely PC, as not to offend anyone not of the Christian or Jewish faith.
Shit my mail carrier is a towel head. I took his picture and mailed to the post master general telling him I would rather see a US combat vet deliver my mail. I would welcome Santa Claus too.
So, certain people have a constitutional right of free speech to shit on cop cars and set up tent city’s regardless if it ruins business…. but ya can’t dress like santa?

So Santa is persona non grata, but my father’s mailman stumbled around drunk,screwing up daily for 7 yrs until he could be declared legally disabled for his alcoholism.
Time for we the citizens to get a backbone. Stop expressing shock over these happenings and take a stand. Grumbling gets nothing. If it’s happening in your neighborhood, do something about it. It takes one person to screw up a good thing. In 1985, I was stationed on the USS Lexington (AVT-16). Every time we went underway, on the evening of the return trip back to Pensacola, FL, the Chiefs and Officers would treat the Enlisted Personnel to an Ice Cream Social. This had apparently been a Lexington Tradition for Years. They would dish many flavors out for us with toppings it was great. One Person complained to the Captain about not getting his “Fair Share” because he was on Watch. We never had another Ice Cream Social again. It got pretty miserable on the trip home after that. Sigh…
I get the dress code thing, but he’s been doing this for a decade. I think the dress code excuse was used to cover up that a muslim bitched about being offended.

What a country full of whining fat babies we have become. Very, very few grown ups around. I dearly miss people like my Grandparents, the greatest generation. No complaining, no explaining, just get it done and move on. I miss the folks I used to know as fellow Americans. Most had backbone, worked hard and lived good lives despite never having heard of things like granite counter tops or stainless appliances. Sadly most are gone now and I nearly cry thinking about the useless hoards of wailing parasites populating our country. It is an all-out war against what once was, including Christmas, and what is the end result? Don’t know yet, but it is not looking good.

I pay all my bills online and if I can’t, I pay in person.
Screw the Post Office; they are another example of how a Union destroyed the business it was supposed to run.

The PO should be forced to name the fellow carrier who complained and why. It is no one else’s business but the supervisor who obviously has no spine. Now that they say it is outside uniform code they should print the code for the public and we will see just how well all the carriers follow it.

I just saw my letter carrier at the “community boxes” yesterday stuffing mail into all the various slots. Didn’t see her wearing any uniform, just normal civilian clothes like you would encounter almost anywhere. So it appears this uniform code is being selectively enforced. With bureaucrats infesting the union-run USPS ranks and management, why am I not surprised….
