BREAKING: Obama’s DOJ Formally Rejects South Carolina’s Voter ID Law, Claim It Will Discriminate Against Minorities…
The Friday afternoon before Christmas weekend, you think they’re trying to keep this out of the news? Especially when you consider polls show 70% support voter ID laws.
(WaPo) — The Justice Department on Friday entered the divisive national debate over new state voting laws, rejecting South Carolina’s measure requiring photo-identification at the polls as discriminatory against minority voters.
The decision by Justice’s Civil Rights Division could heighten political tensions over the new laws, which critics say could depress turnout among minorities and others who helped elect President Obama in 2008. A dozen states this year passed laws requiring voters to present state-issued photo identification, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
Although Democratic governors vetoed four of the measures, liberal and civil rights groups have raised alarms about the remaining laws. Opponents of the laws say they would discriminate against minorities and others, such as low-income voters, because some don’t have the necessary photo identification and lack the means to easily obtain ID cards.
Under the 1965 Voting Rights Act, several of the states that enacted voter-identification laws are required to receive federal “pre-clearance” to ensure that the changes don’t affect minority political power.
In its first decision on one of those new measures, the Justice Department said Friday that South Carolina’s law will discriminate against minority voters, though the department declined to take a position on whether the alleged discrimination was intentional. The law, passed in May and signed by Gov. Nikki Haley (R), requires voters to show a driver’s license or one of several other forms of photo identification.

If this is being introduced to protect the so called minorities and of course we all know that it is being done to facilitate voter fraud, then should this not be overturned by the SC, then it is the duty of every right wing voter to do their best to take advantage of this situation and join the ranks of the fraudsters to ensure a republican victory. Even though it would be an embarrassment to the much more law abiding right wing all and every thing is acceptable to rid the US of these criminals and to ensure the restoration of this great country.

Boeing like the car companies will eventually go under because of Union abuse and O.thugo can step in and transfer another private company over to the Union. Now they have denied our voter passed voter I.D. law. And Holdem Up is going against our immigration policy passed to start actually implementing the laws the Obamanation refuses to uphold. I don’t know where you live, but trust me your state will be sued by O.thugo and his band of Commies any day now.

Clogging the courts, threatening the states if not damaging them outright using abuses of federal positions…I do believe what they are engaged in is a criminal process of jeopardizing the U.S.A. Their retirement in a federal penitentiary is too good for them.
If the Congress does not deal correctly with Holder on a criminal basis, not to mention Obama (now or later), all hope is lost for our nation’s future.

The claim I hear is that it discriminates against ‘minorities’ because they supposedly won’t be able to afford them. Dude, if they can go out and afford to buy ANYTHING, they should be able to afford a cheap, state picture ID. If you can’t afford it, its because you don’t want to afford it, plain and simple. Even if its rejected at the federal level, the states should mandate that if you are going to vote in state elections, you have to have it. Furthermore, if the federal government’s going to interfere in this, they need to interfere in union elections, because you need a picture ID for that.

If they don’t have the means to obtain photo ID then they likely don’t have the means or motivation to educate themselves to the point of responsible voting. Just how many people who are going to vote are running around with no driver’s license? An obvious attempt to stack the black deck and stuff the ballot box. I honestly thought it was a national law that you have to show a photo id. I have voted my whole like and I always have to show my drivers liscence.

Someone stated above that if these people are too lazy to get a photo id then they really shouldn’t be allowed to vote as I am sure they are clueless as to what is going on in our country. I agree. My hope is that once a conservative is elected hopefully in 2012, the President will direct the DOJ to take all 16 jurisdictions off the DoJ voter right watchlist, and if not all 16, then at least Texas and South Carolina, so that the DoJ will never again be able to perform this mischief again.
In Canada as in any normal country one must show a government issued photo ID such as passport or driver’s license and have your name match one on a voter’s list. It’s pretty obvious that without photo ID it’s pretty easy to commit voter fraud something that democrats are famous for.
