The fact that Democrats had to drag Tea Party Republicans kicking and screaming to prevent a major tax increase on the middle class is just one more example of their indifference to working people.

The Democratic Party doesn’t care one bit about the (non-union) working class of America which is largely white. If they had their way, they would tax them out of existence until they were in the lower class dependent on government handouts. However, they continually go around trumpeting that they are the “champions of the middle class”, lying about some scheme that Republicans are trying to perpetrate, and do it over and over again until people just take it as a fact that the Democratic party is the middle class’s party.
I don’t know who buys this anymore. Who made up the vast majority of the Tea Party protests? The middle class. The rich don’t care enough (although some definitely agree with the movement) to attend a grassroots protests, and the poor are committed Democrats eager for larger handouts.
