Girl Scouts Tells Girls To Clear Up “Media Misinformation” By Reading Soros-Funded Media Matters…

I’ll be damned if I have to give up my Samoas!

Via The Blaze:

In 2010, the Girl Scouts of the USA published a book called “MEdia.” The publication, designed for girls in grades six through eight, is a guide that apparently offers insight into how young people should process and understand the media messages surrounding them.

Considering the pervasive nature of popular media, this seems like a viable tool. However, there’s a problem — the book refers young readers to Media Matters for America as one of the primary sources for debunking lies and deceit. [...]

Under the headline, “Consider the Source,” text encourages girls to go to the George Soros-funded Media Matters for America web site to clear up any media misinformation they might encounter. It reads (pdf):

The Internet is a breeding ground for “urban legends,” which are false stories told as if true. Next time you receive a txt or e-mail about something that seems unbelievable, confirm it before you spread it.

The fact-checking site snopes.com investigates everything from urban legends to “news” articles and posts its findings. Media Matters for America (http://mediamatters.org/) gets the word out about media misinformation.

Israeli Airstrikes Kill Three Salafi Jihadists In Gaza…

Feel good story of the day.

Via Long War Journal:

The Israeli Defense Forces killed three al Qaeda-linked terrorists during two airstrikes in the Gaza strip over the past 24 hours.

Today, the IDF killed Rami Daoud Jabar Khafarna and Hazam Mahmad Sa’adi Al Shakr, both described as “Global Jihad-affiliated” terrorists, during an airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip, the IDF said in a press release on its website. The IDF uses the term “Global Jihad-affiliated terrorist” to describe members of Salafist groups linked to al Qaeda’s network in the region.

Both Khafarna and Shakr were previously members of Hamas prior to joining the unnamed Salafist group. Khararna “is known to have taken part in firing rockets at Israel,” while Shakr “has planted and detonated explosive devices against IDF soldiers, along the border with the Gaza Strip.”.”

Today’s airstrike followed another yesterday that killed Abdallah Telbani in Gaza city. Telbani was also described as a “Global Jihad-affiliated terrorist,” and was involved in a plot to attack Israel from the Egyptian Sinai as well as rocket and IED attacks along the Israeli-Gaza border, according to Reuters.

Four main Salafist groups who have expressed their support for al Qaeda are known to operate in the Gaza strike. Those groups are the Jaish al Islam, Jund Ansar Allah, Jaish al Ummah, and Jaish al Mu’minun. These groups have clashed with Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood affiliated terror group that rules Gaza and is supported by Iran and Syria.

Saudi Arabia Outraged After Jooooo Pencils Found In Wahhabi Kingdom’s Stores…

I sense a Mossad plot.

(Ynet) — Saudi authorities are investigating how Israeli pencils reached one of the kingdom’s biggest retail chains. The Kravitz chain, which markets the pencils in Israel.

The Kravitz chain, which markets the pencils in Israel, was surprised to hear about the affair stirring up the Gulf kingdom.

It turns out that Abu Rialin, a Saudi chain which offers all of its items for two riyals, is selling one of Kravitz’s most popular products — a set of 12 pencils with an eraser.

The pencils are sold with the Kravitz logo in Hebrew and without any attempt to conceal the fact that they are made in Israel.

Kravitz learned about the incident following a report published by Saudi website Jaza.

Reset Button FAIL: Russia Accuses Obama Of Human Rights Abuses…

I guess the reset button was broken.

(Reuters) — Russia sought to undermine the authority of the United States as a global judge of human rights on Wednesday with Moscow’s first report to detail allegations of torture, phone tapping and abuse by the U.S. government.

Criticizing the United States for double standards, Russia said President Barack Obama had failed to shut the military prison at Guantanamo Bay and accused the White House of sheltering officials and CIA operatives from prosecution.

The Foreign Ministry’s report “On the situation with human rights in a host of world states,” follows China’s example in highlighting U.S. failings in an attempt to counter U.S. State Department criticism of domestic human rights abuses.

“The situation in the United States is far from the ideals proclaimed by Washington,” Russia’s foreign ministry said in a 63-page report posted on its www.mid.ru Web site. “The main unresolved problem is the odious prison in Guantanamo Bay.”

“The White House and the Justice Department shelter from prosecution CIA operatives and highly placed officials who are responsible for mass and flagrant breaches of human rights,” it said.

Chicago Jesus Works Another Miracle, “Frees” Four Sea Turtles…

Americans still help captive by his disastrous presidency.

First family frees 4 turtles — Politico

The first family released four sea turtles into Hanauma Bay on Tuesday afternoon before visiting the park where the reptiles were raised.

The four turtles — each 18 months old — were raised in captivity at Sea Life Park, about five miles away along the Oahu coast. All have been identified with distinctive markings and have microchips implanted in their rear flippers so they can be identified if they’re found on a beach.

Sea Life Park is the only place in the United States where green sea turtles are raised in captivity.

Somalia: Al-Shabaab Conscripts Elderly To Participate In Jihad Against Government Forces…

The geezer brigades.

Mogadishu (Sunatimes) — Al-Shabaab militant group in Baidoa town, Bay region has on Monday night ordered elders in the district to participate the war against government troops in the region.

Speaking at Arab Mosque in Baidoa, Bay and Bakol regional rebel leader Mahad Omar Abdikarin said it is obligatory for area elders to support his rebel group in order to fight the Somali government troops in parts of these regions.

He said they will soon commence trainings for new recruits including elderly men and young boys in order to give the necessary military trainings needed for them to join the group’s battle with government.

Some elders have reportedly fled the district in fear of forceful conscription.

Earlier this month, Al-Shabaab rebel group in the port city of Kismayo has reportedly recruited students and teachers from all schools in the city.

The rebel group compelled all schools in the city to bring students and teachers to serve its ranks and take part in the fight against the Somali government troops in the region.

Former Staffer: Ron Paul Planned “No” Vote For Afghanistan Invasion Immediately After 9/11 Believing Attacks Were a CIA Conspiracy, Relented After Staff Threatened Mutiny…

Nuts.

Via Daily Caller:

In a statement released on Monday, a 16-year former aide to Texas Rep. Ron Paul writes that the presidential candidate “was opposed to the war in Afghanistan, and to any military reaction to the attacks of 9/11,” but ultimately voted “Yay” [sic] in the face of a threatened staff rebellion and near-certain political suicide. [...]

Following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Paul “engaged in conspiracy theories including, perhaps, [that] the attacks were coordinated with the CIA, and that the Bush administration might have known about the attacks ahead of time,” Dondero wrote. “He expressed no sympathies whatsoever for those who died on 9/11, and pretty much forbade us staffers from engaging in any sort of memorial expressions, or openly asserting pro-military statements in support of the Bush administration.”

“On the eve of the vote,” the former Paul staffer continued, “Ron Paul was still telling us staffers that he was planning to vote ‘No’ on the resolution, and to be prepared for a seriously negative reaction in [his Texas] district. [Current District Case Director] Jackie Gloor and I, along with quiet nods of agreement from the other staffers in the district, declared our intentions to Tom Lizardo, our chief of staff, and to each other, that if Ron voted ‘No,’ we would immediately resign.”

Lizardo became Paul’s chief of staff in 1997 and resigned in 2008.

Poll: Ron Paul Still Leading In Iowa, Up Four Points On Romney…

Worth noting his support is coming mainly from non-Republicans.

(Ballot Box) — With the Iowa caucuses one week away, Ron Paul is standing his ground in Iowa, according to a Public Policy Poll released on Wednesday.

Paul leads the field with 24 percent, but Mitt Romney is a close second at 20 percent.

The survey of 565 likely Republican caucus-goers was conducted on Dec. 26 and 27, indicating that so far Paul has weathered the intense media focus and attacks from his rivals centered on the controversial newsletters that bear his name and some of his foreign policy views that fall outside of the mainstream.

The poll showed a continuing sharp decline in Newt Gingrich’s support, as the former House speaker finished a distant third at 13 percent. Only one month ago Gingrich led the field at 27 percent, but his decision not to counter the barrage of attack ads against him in Iowa seems to have sunk him for now.

Romney Says Universal Healthcare Is “Fundamentally a Conservative Principle”…

Why, Mitt, why? Why must you make it so damn hard for us to get behind you if you’re the nominee?

Via The Hill:

GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney said the healthcare law he passed as governor of Massachusetts, which many say was the model for the Obama administration’s healthcare reform law, is “fundamentally a conservative principle.”

ednesday on Fox and Friends, Romney defended his healthcare law, which includes a version of the individual mandate, as inline with the Republican world view. The individual mandate was the centerpiece and most controversial aspect of the Obama administration’s Affordable Care Act, which has widely been blasted by Republicans as government overreach.

“I’m happy to stand by the things that I believe. I’m not going to change my positions by virtue of being in a presidential campaign,” Romney said. “What we did was right for the people of Massachusetts, the plan is still favored there by three to one, and it is fundamentally a conservative principle to insist that people take personal responsibility as opposed to turning to government for giving out free care.”

Nigeria: Three-Year-Old Christian Girl And Her Parents Shot To Death By Islamist Gunmen…

Jihad du jour.

JOS, Nigeria (AFP) — Gunmen have shot dead a three-year-old girl and her parents near the volatile central Nigerian city of Jos, a government spokesman and residents said Wednesday.

The killing in the Christian-dominated village comes amid growing fears of civil unrest in the country following a deadly string of Christmas attacks claimed by Islamist group Boko Haram.

“Three people — a man, his wife and daughter — have been confirmed killed in that (Uwuk) village. They were attacked in the night while they were asleep,” Plateau state spokesman Ayuba Paro told AFP.

Paro quoted the villagers as saying that attackers who struck late Tuesday were suspected to be Fulani tribesmen, a mostly Muslim group which has been blamed for previous raids on the village.

I shouldn’t be so tough on her, I mean what ordinary American woman living among the 99% doesn’t splurge once in a while and spend up to $2,000 on a sundress?

Newt Unloads On Ron Paul: Worse Than Obama…

Can someone be worse than the Devil?

(National Journal) — Newt Gingrich has finally found a politician he considers even worse than the president he calls socialist, anti-colonialist and radical. That would be his fellow Republican Ron Paul.

“I think Barack Obama is very destructive to the future of the United States. I think Ron Paul’s views are totally outside the mainstream of virtually every decent American,” Gingrich said Tuesday in a CNN interview with Wolf Blitzer.

Could he vote for Paul? “No.” If it came down to Paul vs. Obama? “You’d have a very tough choice at that point.”

Gingrich’s fencing with Mitt Romney seems like an afternoon at a gentleman’s club compared with his slams on Paul. “As people get to know more about Ron Paul, who disowns 10 years of his own newsletter, says he didn’t really realize what was in it, had no idea what he was making money off of, had no idea that it was racist, anti-Semitic, called for the destruction of Israel, talked about a race war — all of this is a sudden shock to Ron Paul?” he asked. “There will come a morning people won’t take him as serious person.”

Gingrich unloaded on Paul after Blitzer showed a tough Paul attack ad accusing Gingrich of “serial hypocrisy.” Gingrich said Paul’s “total record of systemic avoidance of reality” makes him unthinkable as a president. He is, Gingrich said, “a person who thinks the United States was responsible for 9/11, a person who . . . wrote in his newsletter that the World Trade Center bombing in 1993 might have been a CIA plot, a person who believes it doesn’t matter if the Iranians have a nuclear weapon.”
