Tuesday: NBC News Hypes Obama’s 47% Approval Rating — Thursday: Approval Back Down To 41%…

Spoke too soon.

From Newsbusters on Tuesday:

In mid-December, we noticed ABC, CBS, and NBC had no interest in citing Gallup polls that made the Democrats look like they were on the wrong side of the public. But on Tuesday morning’s Today, NBC substitute co-host Savannah Guthrie gushed to Chris Matthews in the first half-hour of the show that the latest Gallup numbers show Obama ticking up a bit.

“For the first time I think since July, the latest Gallup tracking poll has his approval higher than his disapproval. He’s no longer upside-down on that number,” Guthrie reported. “Is this a reflection of things getting better in the economy, or people not liking the Republicans and coming back to President Obama?”

On screen, viewers saw that Obama’s approval-disapproval rating was 44 percent approve/48 percent disapprove on December 20–22 and then 47/45 on December 21–23.

Today’s Gallup tracking poll has Obama with a 41% approval and 50% disapproval rating.

Occupy Wall Street Gets Big “Up Twinkles” From Third World Socialist Revolutionaries…

Unfortunately for OWS, Socialism isn’t exactly the most popular ideology in America.

Via Workers World:

The Third International Conference of the International Anti-Imperialist and Peoples Solidarity Coordinating Committee met in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from Nov. 27 to 29. The conference’s theme was “Imperialist Attack: Economic, Political, Cultural and Military Aggression and Occupation.” Special reference was made to imperialist aggression in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Afghanistan, Cuba and the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea.

The international program opened with an outdoor rally of 20,000 militants organized by the Socialist Party of Bangladesh, a co-sponsor of the assembly. It was followed by a militant march through the capital city’s crowded streets.

The 800 official delegates represented anti-imperialist forces from 24 countries. There was strong representation from South Asia, including from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Two women guerrilla fighters were sent from Nepal. The DPRK sent a delegation. Resistance organizations were represented from Middle Eastern and African countries, including Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Sudan, Iran, Turkey, Algeria, Morocco and Chad. [...]

Sara Flounders, a Workers World Party Secretariat member, who is on the IAPSCC’s executive committee, expressed solidarity with the conference at a time when people of the world are rising up. When she mentioned Occupy Wall Street, the crowd roared. Flounders later presided over a conference session.

Planned Parenthood Helping Teens Get Secret Abortions In NH, Special Legal Team Helps Keep Parents From Being Notified…

Pure evil if you ask me.

Via LifeNews:

As the new parental involvement law takes effect in New Hampshire, the nation’s biggest abortion business is pushing teenagers into secret abortions that have them using a portion of the law to avoid informing their parents.

Under the new law, an abortion practitioner must provide written notice to a parent of a minor seeking an abortion 48 hours prior to doing the abortion. The law, as required by the U.S. Supreme Court, contains a judicial bypass provisions meant to protect teenagers in abusive home situations who worry about the consequences they face if divulging their pregnancy to their parents or guardian. [...]

Although meant for extraordinarily rare circumstances, Dave Andrusko of the National Right to Life Committee notes the New Hampshire affiliate if Planned Parenthood has created a legal project designed to connect teenagers with attorneys who will walk them through the bypass procedure and into secret abortions without the knowledge of their parents.

“Jennifer Frizzell, senior policy adviser for Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, has created the “Judicial Bypass Advocacy Project” to assist under-age girls to negate as much as possible New Hampshire’s new parental notification law,” he notes.

Black Magazine Reader Poll Finds Only 35% Celebrate Kwanzaa…

There’s always Festivus for those who are fond of made-up holiday’s.

(The Root) — A lone Christmas tree on a makeshift pedestal stands prominently in the center of Howard University’s main quadrangle, which is uncharacteristically empty during the first week of December. Students rush by to make it to their exams on time, with the tree serving as a reminder of the holiday traditions that await them after their last final. But for one Howard student, this evergreen emblem doesn’t represent the true essence of the holiday spirit.

“My mother, she was very hard on trying to make us celebrate Kwanzaa. She felt that it was more important than Christmas,” Howard student Jasper Henderson told The Root. “Kwanzaa has more definition of life — Christmas is just presents.”

Not everyone feels the same as Henderson and his mom. According to an unscientific poll of 472 of The Root’s readers, only 35 percent of respondents currently observe Kwanzaa, an African-American holiday based on seven principles that is celebrated over the last week of the year. Half of all respondents have participated in such celebrations at least once in their lives.

Only 45 percent of all respondents believe that Kwanzaa is a real holiday. While thoughts on Kwanzaa’s validity were split down the middle among Millennials, those born between 1965 and 1981 were most likely to not consider Kwanzaa a true holiday — even though almost a third of them celebrate the holiday themselves.

Obama Approves $30 Billion US-Saudi Arms Deal Sending 84 Advanced F-15 Fighter Jets To Fundamentalist Wahhabi Regime…

On the bright side they’re an Islamic army so they can’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

(WaPo) — The Obama administration on Thursday announced an arms deal with Saudi Arabia valued at nearly $30 billion, an agreement that will send 84 F-15 fighter jets and assorted weaponry to the kingdom.

The administration notified Congress last year of its intent to sell advanced weaponry to Saudi Arabia, a key U.S. ally in the Middle East and a strategic bulwark against Iran. The final agreement also includes the modernization of 70 existing aircraft as well as munitions, spare parts, training and maintenance.

“This agreement reinforces the strong and enduring relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia, and demonstrates the U.S. commitment to a strong Saudi defense capability as a key component to regional security,” White House spokesman Joshua Earnest said in a statement.

Pew Survey: Shockingly, Americans Still Think Socialism Blows…

Newsweek hardest hit.

(The Hill) — While it’s been a topsy-turvy couple of years for the U.S. economy, Americans have kept a pretty consistent view of such words as capitalism and socialism, a new survey found.

The Pew Research Center found that half of U.S. adults reacted favorably to capitalism, while 4 in 10 responded negatively.

Meanwhile, 6 out of 10 adults disapproved of socialism, while 31 percent endorsed it.

All those responses, Pew said, are largely unchanged from April 2010, the last time the group checked on those words.

House Democrats: “What Did We Do To Make The Tea Party Republicans So Angry?”…

I’d like to thank the DNC, DCCC and Obama campaign for these crazy emails, they’re a treasure trove of new material.

From: Donna Brazile
Subject: What did you do?
Date: December 29, 2011 11:52:42 AM EST
To: Drew
Reply-To: Nancy Pelosi

Drew —

I’d like to know what middle class Americans did to the Republican Party.

For that matter, what did seniors, women, students, folks that breathe air and drink water, and anyone who puts in an honest day’s work do to make Tea Party Republicans so angry and determined to attack us?

Whatever the answer is, I can tell you this: it has to stop.

The fact that Democrats had to drag Tea Party Republicans kicking and screaming to prevent a major tax increase on the middle class is just one more example of their indifference to working people.

Please be as generous as you can afford. Send a message to the Tea Party by sending in your contribution today.

Thank you.

Gallup: 42% of Americans Describe Themselves Politically As “Conservative,” Only 19% Says They Are “Liberal”…

And the same poll finds 57% think Obama is a liberal. The MSM is going to have to work overtime to get him reelected.

Via Gallup:

. . .Overall, 42% of Americans in the Dec. 15-18 poll describe themselves as very conservative or conservative, 19% as very liberal or liberal, and 37% as moderate. Those figures are in line with what Gallup has measured in recent years for ideological self-identification.

A majority of Americans, 57%, perceive Obama to be liberal, with 23% describing his views as moderate and 15% as conservative.

Nancy Pelosi’s Daughter: “She Would Retire Right Now If Her Donors Didn’t Want Her To Stay So Badly . . . She Has Very Few Days Left”…

But what about the rest of America who wants her to leave now?

Via Big Government:

Alexandra Pelosi, daughter of House Minority Leader and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, told Big Government this week that her mother wants to leave Congress — and that she remains in Washington only at the behest of her campaign donors.

During a telephone interview, Ms. Pelosi — speaking from a friend’s home in New York City — described her mother’s predicament:

She would retire right now, if the donors she has didn’t want her to stay so badly. They know she wants to leave, though. They think she’s destined for the wilderness. She has very few days left. She’s 71, she wants to have a life, she’s done. It’s obligation, that’s all I’m saying.

Obama Campaign Has a New Slogan: “He’s Not Superman, Just a Dude”…

He’s not Superman? This should come as quite a surprise to . . . Barack Obama.

Via Washington Whispers:

Forget all of those Drudge Report headlines about the vacationing first lady’s $2,000 sun dress, the president’s six-plus hour golf outings, and their three-hour, $100-a-person dinner tasting at posh Alan Wong’s restaurant in Honolulu.

Because the president’s 2012 campaign has a new Joe Sixpack theme: “He’s just a dude!”

Softening his image and making him appear more approachable than his whining White House press corps — kept far from his Hawaii vacation stops — suggests, the campaign is distributing a short interview with one of President Obama’s donor dining guests who said his host was far from Superman.

“He’s just a dude!” says Casey Helbling, who attended Obama’s hot dog dinner with low-dollar donors in northern Virginia last October. “It was great to have a frank conversation with him, to realize that he’s not Superman,” he added.

The campaign is using Helbling’s interview, and emails from the president, first lady and even former presidential “body man” Reggie Love to promote his second donor dinner for the campaign. Aides say that the dinners are extremely successful in raising money and energizing supporters.
