This series is based upon the assumption that skepticism in science is essential to increase understanding of the natural world. Yet, ideologically based disinformation is ethically abhorrent particularly in regard to behaviors about which there is credible scientific support for the conclusion that human activities threaten life and the ecological systems on which life depend. This report focuses on specific tactics that have been deployed in the climate change disinformation campaign. It is not a critique of responsible skepticism. The tactics that will be examined in detail include:
- Lying Or Reckless Disregard For the Truth
- Focusing On An Unknowns While Ignoring The Known.
- Specious Claims Of “Bad” Science
- Creation of Front Groups
- Manufacturing Bogus Climate Science
- Think Tank Campaigns
- Misleading PR Campaigns.
- Creation of Astroturf Groups
- Cyber-bullying Scientists and Journalists

However, a review of the tactics used by the scientific disinformation campaign will reveal that these tactics can’t be construed as the application of reasonable scientific skepticism, but, as we shall see, often constitute malicious, morally reprehensible disinformation. Yet these tactics provide important lessons about norms that should guide reasonable skepticism.
Yet, as we shall see, much of the ideological climate disinformation that has been prominent in the climate change debate in the United States and a few other developed countries is deeply ethically abhorrent.

Back to topic, start over: “Tactics”? Speaking of tactics. How does one go about deciding that global warming would cause “Intraspecies predation”? Why couldn’t it cause great Intraspecies lethargy? Or maybe it could cause Intraspecies blindness.

1. Give these invented carbon credits to 3rd world countries who have done nor produced anything. I’m certain a just format will be utilized here for the distribution of said credits.
2. Force US companies to purchase these credits from 3rd world dictators. Again, I’m certain here that said 3rd world dictators will utilize a just format to sell credits on a level field of cost.
3. US companies have now paid much more to produce the same product. Once again, I’m certain that said US companies will simply absorb these additional costs and not pass them on to the consumer.

What i don’t get is how these guys get their degrees. My supervisor in grad school would have scorned this guys lack of self awareness. Does he really not see that what he is saying A: has nothing to do with actual science B: is based on a rather subjective assessment that the science is, in fact settled. I dont think it is too much to expect that a PhD have the common sense to know better than to go around calling the kettle black.

It turns out that the GAO, the US General Accounting Office, says US has been secretly hiding their funding of the IPCC for the last decade.
They were already told not to do that by the GAO. In the 2005 GAO report with the swingeing title of “Federal Reports on Climate Change Funding Should Be Clearer and More Complete”, the GAO said … well, basically what the title said. But noooo, those sneaky bureaucrats didn’t do that at all.
The latest 2011 GAO Report says the US government has not changed their ways. They have been clandestinely providing about half the operating funds for the IPCC for the last decade. In other words, the IPCC funding arrangements are of a piece with their “scientific” claims and their other actions—secretive, shabby, with a hidden agenda, and full of disinformation.
The report says that the State Department provided $19 million dollars to the IPCC. Thanks, guys. Foolish me, I hadn’t realized that paying for bureaucrats to go party in Cancun and Durban was part of the function of the United States Department of State.
