GM Denies Official Car Of The Obama Administration A Flop…

Guess again.
Comments & pings are closed.(Fox News) — Last year wasn’t a great one for General Motors’ first production plug-in range-extended electric car.
Continued negative press — not to mention post-crash-test fires and production-line upgrades — conspired to produce first-year sales figures a little lower than GM had hoped.
Does that mean the Chevrolet Volt is a sales flop? According to GM’s Vice Chairman Steve Girsky, it’s too early to tell.
Speaking at the Automotive News World Congress event on Tuesday evening at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, Girsky was keen to point out that while the Chevrolet Volt missed its 10,000 car sales target for 2011 by 2,329 vehicles, it didn’t mean the Volt was a flop.
“I think it’ll be May or June before we know whether this thing really has legs,” he said. “We are prepared for if it does.”

lmao, and your chocolate ration will be increased from 8 ounces to 4 ounces.
Dear barry and GM,
Instead of wasting all this money on the Dolt, why don’t you do the right and ethical thing and return the money you illegally stole from the bond holders; many who are senior citizens living on fixed incomes? Every one responsible for the decision to steal this money should go straight to the Federal Penitentiary.
sb (who will not forgive until you do the just thing and return the money!)
BTW you thieves

@sb
Corzine said he had no idea where the $1.2 billion in missing customer funds had gone and that investigators are still untangling what happened.
$1.2 billion?
Maybe it went to “fundraising” to re-install Obama?
The Edsel moment cometh.
New option: BBQ grill
@veldy:
Yeah, because the automotive industry is just chock-full of success stories where the car catches fire just for the hell of it.
“I think it’ll be May or June before we know whether this thing really has legs,”
That must be when the GE order comes in. They’re committed for 12,000 by 2015. That should boost the sales sheet.
No individual with a brain is going to buy that POS.
Of course, anyone who voted for Obama isn’t included.
Could the free market produce a failure so complete? .. methinks not
Wouldn’t it have been nice if Bain capital had come to their rescue instead of the tax payers?
So far as flops go, yeah right, the Volt’s growth curve is a xerox of the Mazda Miata’s
Wealth transfer from the middle class to the assholes who buy these things, which by the way are mostly purchased by democrap controlled local governments and Jeff “send those jobs to China” Imelt’s GE. GE couldn’t suck more if it tried.
Just goes to show that the Motor Trend Car of the Year award is a sham…just like the Nobel Peace Prize. Chosen for what it may do versus any actual achievement.
Maybe GM could repackage and remarket it. You know, offer rainbow-colored upholstery and a vibrant paint job. A special seat for the lap dog. Re-program the OnStar to understand a strong lisp.
Call it the GM Flame. Now that is truth in packaging.
So the Corvair then was a hit out of the park.
Wow these guys will do anything to save Barry’s image.
I keep asking.. How many cars went to the gov’t and Obama corporation supporters???
GE bought some..
GM called it the “Volt”. “Crapmobile” must have already been taken. Isnt it a pity that some company with a workable idea wasnt given all this help?
@cabrerski: And a horn that hollas out BIIITCH!!
Apparently, given the propensity for fires, it’s better to use one’s legs.
Chevy runs deep combustible
It costs $250,000.00 to build one of these cars when you include all the government subsidies. I would say that it is a colossal flop.
If it’s called “Hell On Wheels” Lucifer wants his 5%.
Photo ops? why didnt that one catch on fire. Damn
I bet the kenyan fag NEVER bought a car in his sorry ass life
Volt is a POS,…it costs more for the charging than gasoline does so why in the hell would anyone in their right mind buy one?
Poor Barry, failed policies, failed ideology, failed leadership, failed Congress, failed ehtics, failed morals, failed Presidency and now failed Government Motors Car…what is left for poor Barry…time to call Bill and go sit down for a cigar and a beer.
If it be ROMNEY that leads then Right and Middle America needs to back ROMNEY 2012, ANYONE over 4 more of Obama!
The government owns a large portion of GM, of course they will paint a positive, albeit false image.
Because selling less than 8000 units of the Volt makes its such a huge success?????
By comparison, Toyota sold 266,000 corolla’s in 2010. Yeah that Volt is a bitchen car alright.
whatever…probably BUSH’S fault anyway
Most of the comments about the Volt are simply wrong. I cannot think of any vehicle that has been the victim of so much misinformation. It is NOT Obama’s vehicle. He had nothing to do with it. GM should have never let him sit in it for a photo op but what were they to do. They were broke. Yes Obama and Congress helped GM survive, but then Obama subverted the normal bankruptcy process to favor the unions. The development of vehicle began about the time Obama stopped his community organizing (oh wait maybe he still is doing that). Some of the best engineers in the USA worked on the car.
It is new technology designed and made in the USA for which GM holds a number of valuable patents. It uses American coal, American natural gas, and American Nuclear to produce the electricity. A typical owner who drives 40 miles per day or 14,000 miles per year would use about $30 per month in electricity from the grid and less than $10 per month in gasoline for a net saving about $10,000 per 5 years in gasoline (this assumes gasoline stays in the $3 range). The development costs have been spent long before Obama was President. The cost per car to produce now is about the retail price.
I have driven the vehicle. It has a very solid feel, excellent acceleration, handles well and is extremely quiet. This generation of the Volt will not make money but batteries will improve and the costs will come down. The Volt as an extended range electric vehicle is the perfect vehicle for those who normally commute less than 50 miles round trip, want the option of driving as far as they want, and who can afford to pay a little more now to save a greater amount in fuel costs in the future.
Gubmint Motors Dolt can’t even take its place next to the Edsel and Yugo.
@Repuplican
“It has a very solid feel, excellent acceleration, handles well and is extremely quiet.”
It also catches fire randomly. Which is not a good thing to happen to any product. I am pretty sure you wouldnt like it happening to your underwear?
“Republican”
lol, I see the trolls have graduated to a “clever” nic level and are sending in their “articulate” cadre.
I wanted to buy one. I really did. But I attended all three of Obama’s fundraisers in Chicago yesterday, so I ran out of money.
Life is just full of difficult choices. At least the fundraisers didn’t burn down my garage.
