I have no problem with getting illegal guns off the street. A few years back I prosecuted a case where two idiots borrowed a gun, borrowed the bullets and then killed a 79 year old man for $13. Getting guns from assholes is a lot different than trying to take them from someone with a license or keeping them at home for protection.

Let me first state that I don’t care for NJ laws but they are their laws. He stated very clearly two words: Illegal and Carry. Since NJ is one of the cluster of northeast states that is a “may issue” state, it is possible, but not likely to get a CCW permit. The guns he is going after are the ones that are being carried illegally. The one that is most likely to be used in the commission of a felony. And there is only ONE way to break the bond between thieves….CASH. If they can turn in shorty, lil mike, miguel, rasta and pinball…that’s an easy 5 grand in their pocket.

I applaud efforts to get illegal guns off of the streets, but I am sick and tired of the press and the politicians – especially in New Jersey – constantly neglecting to say illegal guns. Or calling a semi-automatic an assault rifle. This commercial took Booker long enough to clarify what he was talking about. Same goes for the regular mantra – and there is at least one billboard to this effect in Newark – about gun owners supplying gangs with handguns. Very simply, if this were indeed the case – it would have been all over the press by now and in spades. NJ would have been the poster child for illegal gun transfers. But it is not. Hell, the state has so much information on gun owners (including how much and what kind of ammunition you purchase in the state), that if we really were the type to buy and sell guns to gangsters, AT LEAST ONE gun would have been recovered by now from a crime scene – and the State Police and local police would be at the original ownerr’s door in less than 30 minutes. That was also the so-called rationale behind the one-gun-a-month purchase law, because you know, we law abiding citizens just cannot be trusted. According to the lefty pols, WE are the “fast and furious” network of NJ.

I am sure this program is cheaper than paying for an ATF agent but they are going to be causing a lot of issues with lawsuits when a city cop busts down the door of an innocent person or a legal gun owner. Is this the best Newark can do? How about just legalize Open Carry and let the citizens protect themselves. I am sure they can do a better job than a police officer could ever do. I have followed Cory over a couple of years. I dont even live any where close to NJ. What I c from the vid is he is wanting to stop car jackings, and other gun related crimes by criminals.
Cory will tweet day and night. A good example is when he drives all over the city during snow storms to make sure streets r clear. (even in the middle of the night)
I decided to look at the vid and see if I should stop following him as a sort of personal protest against him for the 2nd Amendment. I dont see it like some on here. I think he is only trying to get guns from criminals. I am only going by what I have seen of him on Twitter over the last couple of years. At least he isnt getting crack and hookers at 3 am like some mayors in other cities.
