Obama: “You Won’t Meet Harder Working Folks” Than Those In The Government…

He’s joking, right?

“By the way, you won’t meet harder working folks than some of the folks in these federal agencies. They devote countless hours to trying to make sure that they’re serving the American people, but they will tell you their efforts are constantly undermined by an outdated bureaucratic maze.”

“countless hours”? I can count them. Forty, max, each week that they work.

Funny that government employees can be “constantly undermined by an outdated bureaucratic maze” but that government intrusion into the private sector creates jobs.

Haah. I’ve worked (as a contractor) in several federal/state agencies… hours (and minutes and seconds) are counted quite avidly by the “hard workers” to be found in these slacker farms.

However- if the “federal employee” we’re talking about is soetero, and the “countless hours” are with respect to time wasted on golf courses, you might be on to something.

with two breaks 15 minutes each, 1/2 hour to 45 minutes lunch. not including time to get to and from break room.

work, my ass. i’ve worked a federal job. there are 4 employees sitting around collecting a paycheck while one poor slob runs around and does everything.

2+2=5. Black is white and white is black. Good is evil and evil is good. Up is down and down is up. You are witnessing the Ministry of Truth in our time.

Everything Obama says is a LIE. He is the agent of Satan. He is dedicated to destroying all that is good, including America. He needs to be stopped, by whatever means necessary.

I interned for two different government agencies, one had a ton of slackers and few very hard working and dedicated folks. The other had more hard workers than slackers (however, it was also all engineers and people who had worked in the private sector first). I have also worked for private sector companies full of ne’er do wells and slackers.

There is just a lot of very lazy people in this country who will be worthless no matter where they are employed.

@Rupaula – you’re right – the difference is in the private sector, those people usually, eventually get FIRED. Not so in a gubmint job.

As one of those federal workers, I do take exception to some of the comments…but that’s not to say that I don’t understand. I support EOD so most of our budgets are small relative to the ship and air platform programs. Some of us work 50 and 60 hour weeks. We don’t take 15 minute breaks. I mostly eat lunch in front of my computer. We can’t bill over time usually so we eat the time.

But, there are a lot of folks that are dead weight. You won’t find [many] them in the engineering codes where I reside. They will be mostly in the support codes, like secretaries and the bureaucratic codes. Then you’ve got the ones who try to play the system to make more money, usually those involved with contracts. Every time someone gets caught, it adds more scrutiny. I’m not saying that they shouldn’t be caught, but there’s always going to be the bad guys, but they are few and far between. the ramifications of their actions usually cost the government more than the action itself.

Ack, it’s frustrating. But I have to remember that my job is to get new tech to the guys and gals in the field so they can come home and sleep on a soft bed like I do every night.

But the above is probably the exception since we are in the RDT&E field. There are commands whose sole function seems to be to stymie progress and waste funds. I pay taxes just like the rest of you, so when I see something wrong is chaps my hide too.

Matel-thanks for bringing that up_ I have a couple of friends who were in Homeland Security and FEMA, and they tell me about all the guff they would get when they would work at cutting costs on projects, AND push their coworkers to find savings as well. Just imagine the government workers who will be working as your health care provider when Obamacare kicks in. Your health will be in the hands of some government slacker. They will decide who and when you will see a doctor and what treatment you will receive.

1 – If Romney receives the nomination he will not defeat Obama…so I don’t know why in the hell he is winning all the primaries.

2 – If he were by chance the President…I am not so sure he would repeal Obamacare.

Not me but many who have voted for and support Romney have blown it for America and the rest of us.

  49. Mad Dog says:

With many years in the military, I’ve worked with hundreds of federal employees. A few work very hard, most go through the motions, and a relatively small number only move under their own power (1) at quitting time, and (2) to file a grievance when somebody tries to make them do some work. As long as a federal employee shows up at work (and sometimes not even then), it’s nearly impossible to fire them. As USA Today reported last year, federal employees are more likely to die on the job then be fired or laid off.
