Good News: Canadian PM Stephen Harper Meeting With China About Selling Their Oil After Obama Drags Feet on Keystone Pipeline…

Can you blame them?

(The Ledger) — Canada is now looking to Asian countries to market its abundance of oil, natural gas and minerals as plans to build the proposed Keystone XL pipeline have stalled with the U.S. administration.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper will travel to China next month to discuss selling Canada’s bounty to the rapidly growing nation.

The preferred initial plan was to build the $7 billion Keystone pipeline to deliver Alberta’s oilsands crude to refineries in Texas on the Gulf of Mexico.

Harper reasoned that the U.S. government would prefer to deal with a friendly neighbor to help meet its energy needs while creating thousands of jobs.

With widespread opposition by U.S. environmentalists, the Obama administration has delayed its decision on whether to approve the project proposed by energy giant TransCanada Pipelines.

The new plan would market to China and Asian countries through the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline that would transport Alberta’s oil and natural gas to British Columbia for shipment by tankers.

But I do hope Canada and other developed nations will send election fraud commissions to oversee the voting in our backwater in November while our Haitian-like Dear Leader is jetting around the world on perpetualy holiday.

I dont blame Harper one bit, he was stupid to belive that Marxist Barry has American interests at heart, Barry is for Barry first and foremost and always.

I hope Harper realises America considers Canada an ally even if that marxist moron in the WH does not.

Those Canadians have figured out that the liberal/green crap leads to poverty. Soon the Canadians will have a severe illegal alien problem on their Southern border.

Very often environmentalist operate like dictators. There is plenty of evidence they are not representative of all of us. The more I learn about, them the more I hate their guts. The Canadians could always dump off some crude along the west coast. This would resolve the environmental issues.

It will be interesting to see how the projects to move oilsands crude to the Canadian west coast proceed. They face resistance from the same commie environmental wackjob groups as does the Keystone XL project.

The big difference, though, is the leadership. The US could use a Harper-like leader come January 2013.

Having a reliable supply of crude from our next door neighbor does not fit in with Obi’s plan to cripple America. Getting Soros crude from Brazil is a much better idea. Money goes in his boss’s pocket while still allowing him room to complete the communist takeover of the USA.

This fiasco (delay of Keystone Project) is what ALL the r’s should be talking about instead of their attacks on Bane Capital, and capitalisim in general (vulture capitalism, etc). After listening to some of their crap, you shake your head! Buying or producing something, and selling it for more than your intial costs or production costs is bad????? WTF!!!

It appears that Canadian PM has some business sense. Cutting government pensions, and marketing their natural resourses. Contrast that with barry/nwo and the destruction of America with gas prices on their way to $4.00 a gal, skyrocketing energy cost for electrity as the EPA/nwo shuts down power generation plants, and propane, nature gas rising! “We’ve got to spread the wealth around” FU barry!

We as a country are being “hosed” everywhere with this green (Agenda 21) policy! All you have to do is turn on the news or read a newspaper in ANY small town or large city and you will see all the “catch phrases” from the Agenda 21 policy! Bottom line the projects vary from millions (in small towns and cities), to billions (in large cities)! This is all taxpayer money, and borrowed from Chi-com money. In most cases, these are unnecessary projects or projects that should be delayed because of the current economy!

I know this first hand, because my company bids on some of these projects! Politicans love them, because they get to see their picture on the local news with the gold painted shovel as they talk jobs. You never see them when the projects fail to produce expected results (project benefits are ALWAYS lied about, er oversold to taxpayers)!

I seem to be “all over the map here” as I have just got back from three days of continuing ed. A couple of points; 1. Our current leading export in the USA in gasoline 2. Green projects are a total rip-off, for example wind is averaging about 12.5% payback over life off project, solar slightly higher!
In other words ,would you personaly invest $100K and at the end of the investment period you get back $12.5K? Hell NO!! This is what our current politico’s are doing over and over again in EVERYWHERE, USA!!!!!!

The only answer I see is, vote ALL the f…ers out, and term limit the new ones! Anything less will mean more of the same!!

Historians like to assign labels to significant periods of human history – the “Stone age”, the “Bronze Age”, etc.

In the future, when historians look back on this period of history (assuming there will be a future from which to look back), they will label this period as the “Age of Idiocy”.

  20. robins111 says:

As a Canadian I’d much rather the oil went to the US than that pest hole over the pacific.

However it needs to be sold to someone and it will find a market.

Maybe someone could do a little investigating down in the US and tell us, why Bammy’s biggest supporters, like Tides, Pews etc. are spending so much money trying to stop any pipeline construction to either the US (Keystone XL) or Northern Gateway to the pacific?

  21. What? says:
    January 16, 2012 at 10:44 am

Put new refineries at the US/Canadian border and you won’t need a pipeline. We desperately need a new refinery anyway, might as well be there.

  22. oilfield7550 says:
    January 16, 2012 at 11:02 am

Even an economically illiterate person like BHO sould understand two simple facts about the Keystone proposal: (1) it’s far better to buy oil, or anything else for that matter, from a trusted and reliable friend than from countries intent on doing economic and physical harm to the U.S.; and (2) transporting oil by tanker is far more dangerous and unreliable than moving it by pipeline.

This Canadian would far rather see our oil go to our American friends than to freaking China!

The company which was to build the pipeline has already bent over backwards to accomodate US environmental concerns, including redesigning the planned route to avoid wetlands. Construction of the pipeline would provide 20,000 jobs to Americans in several states. It seems like a win-win for both countries. I can only speculate that there is some nefarious plan behind Obama’s refusal to approve this much-needed project.

In fact the more oil Canada sells, the less oil the Muslim/Communist dictators of OPEC sell.

For those not bored with my above post, a couple of other items. The equipment purchased (with taxpayer money) that we are hired to install very often comes from China. We have both wind and solar equipment from China, that has been sitting on sites for years. The construction of that equipment is TRASH! We have to install per NEC (National Electrical Code), which means this made in China equipment must be listed and labeled (with out getting into the weeds too much, it’s approved after testing by Underwriter Labortories etc.). The electrical inspectors MAY approve after independent testing by approved engineering firms. This costs taxpayers $100′s K’s extra and sometimes costs go into the millions! In the end, most are NEVER approved! In the case of wind, inferior materials in the slip rings used in the generation of power, and inferior and undersized wiring threw out, with wrong type of wire insulation and coloring is the norm. Most engineering companies will not take on the liability that would go with approving this crap!

So……..what I am saying……. only union, politico, and engineering corruption allows these Agenda 21/green projects to be built!

This should sound familiar because it describes our CURRENT regime and congress!!!!

    Vote them all out!!

this cunuck loves his american cousins and watches in horror as the failed experiment in Obamanation unravels.
in 2000, the conservative movement in Canada was split and all seemed hopeless as our far left Liberal overlords appeared to be unassailable.
but Canadians are not as liberal as our media elites would have us believe.
Harper worked hard, very hard to win the leadership of the Canadian Alliance party – a remnant of the Reform party that left the Progressive Conservative party [think RINOs] back in the late 80s.
he then went to work uniting the right.
in 2004, fresh from a leadership win of the new united Conservative Party, Harper reduced the Liberals to a minority government when only six months earlier they crowned their heir to the throne for what they thought would be an easy landslide into posterity [think Gordon Brown].
a year and half later, Harper won a small minority. and governed responsibly and diligently for two and a half years – a life time in minority parliaments – and then won a very strong minority.
within months of the election and the 2008 meltdown, the three opposition parties [the Liberals, the NDP socialists and the separatist Bloc Quebec party] attempted to bring down the government and offer themselves up as a formal coalition party with a two year deal to run the country without another election!
Harper used his legit powers as PM to prorogue parliament for a couple of months – basically a do-over in presenting the government’s agenda – and the air quickly came of out the whole coup as Canadians saw if for what it was: a naked power grab by sore losers.
this past year, Harper won a solid majority government, decimating the Liberals who for the first time in their history, were no longer the official opposition party when out of government.
outside of Quebec – which dumped the separatist party in favor of the socialist NDP – Harper has a super majority.
And Canadians are happy to have him now as we look around the world.
i worked long and hard in the trenches for many elections and local association party work. at times it seemed almost hopeless but the only option was to try try and try again.
my hopes are that the tea party movement can help conservativism in the US find continued growth and electoral success to match its popularity with the people. Like Rush says, if it is presented, it wins every time.
the GOP race is not really encouraging. [I was hoping for a Saracuda administration in 2013].
but no matter who the GOP nominee is, he’s got to win the WH.
it’ll be up to the grass roots to force him to do what is right.
    the stakes are too high…
    P.S. Primary Boehner!

The construction of the pipeline is clearly advantageous for both countries and if the US doesn’t support it other countries will most certainly avail themselves of such a great opportunity. And I don’t think that the Chinese government would succomb to the protests of some enviromentalist organizations. The latest studies reveal that the energy sector in Canada has recently been on the rise and it may contribute a great deal to the economic recovery of the country in upcoming years so there’s no reason to pass up this very first chance and let others make a profit.
