Report: Only One President Since 1940 Has Won Second Term When Starting Reelection Year With Less Than 50% Approval…

Up to us to make sure Obama isn’t the second.
Comments & pings are closed.(ABC News) — There are plenty of Democrats and even some Republicans who view the Republican primary as a gift to President Obama. Sixteen debates, web videos and “you can’t even make this up” candidate behavior, have provided plenty of fodder for late night comedians and opposition researchers. Meanwhile, frontrunner Mitt Romney has solidified his place on top thanks mostly to the fact that his opponents have imploded.
Even so, three new national polls should give Democrats some serious pause. They show a very vulnerable president who is serious danger of losing re-election.
ABC/Washington Post polling shows Obama’s approval rating at 48 percent. Pollster Gary Langer writes: “In polling since 1940, just four previous presidents have started their re-election year with less than 50 percent approval. Only one of them won, Richard Nixon in 1972.”
Gallup’s Lydia Saad writes: ” Obama’s job approval rating has averaged 44 percent in Gallup Daily tracking since the start of January. That is below the approval rating of seven out of eight previous incumbents at a comparable point in their presidencies.”
CNN/ORC poll asked voters who they saw as best able to “get the economy moving.” Just 40 percent chose Obama, while 53 percent picked Romney.

Considering the US election results will be run by a foreign company, and OWS will shut down voting in Nov 6th, I don’t think O is all that concerned.
Don’t worry, voter fraud plus incompetent and weak Republicans, who refuse to address the issue properly, will seal re-election for Obama.
And we will capitalize on this by getting Mitt Romney into the White House. /sarc
I hope not only dose OBAMA lose but so do all liberals and ANDREW SULLIVAN is sleeping in a cardboard box
I knew Nixon, I voted for Nixon…
And you are no Nixon.
I think the reason that Nixon won with less than 50% was the fact that the polls are always skewed against the Repubs. His approval was probably higher but the liberal(most polls) were afraid to have him over 50%. A true poll would probably show BO with a lot less than is being reported.
Once the Republican Primary process has picked a candidate, Barry’s chances of being re-elected will plummet.
I still predict the Dems will try and abandon him when the polling data shows how bad they are going to lose.
Hey Barry, have you driven Mayflower out of business yet?
I can round up a few pick up trucks if you need help moving next year.
I get sick looking at Obama’s total disrespect for the White House. Look at the picture above…..rocked back on back two legs of chair that obviously did NOT come from Walmart.
Feet on the Resolution Desk; feet on coffee tables, etc.
No respect for Oval Office……no respect for Americans and America…..PERIOD.
Poll’s are like comedy routines: You lead with a question you already know the answer of, then twist it a little to get the result you desire……….enough said.
Polls do not vote!
It’s up to us to make sure it’s not TWO!
Vote early and often…..and if your neighbors are Leftists, tie them up and gag them several weeks before the election.
Hey lean backwards even more and CRASH
I suspect some of the reasoning for Nixon’s re-election was who is opponent was, GOP people may wish to keep that in mind as they consider who they support in the nomination process.
He is disrespectful to the American people, the Oval Office, the Constitution, to our country. Then he adds insult to injury by bowing down to our enemies and insulting our allies. I, among many angry people just want him out of office & will vote for whomever gets the Republican nomination (except for RP, we already have any apologist in office that has left us vulnerable).
If we don’t get him out, it will be the end of this great country as we have known it. He looks forward to finishing us off, bet on it.
I got news for you . He’s going to be re elected. The Republican field is awful.
This only raises questions about polling. In 1972 Nixon won one of the greatest election landslides in American political history crushing George McGovern. As I recall Nixon took 48 states which calls these polls accuracy into question.
Unless the answer is that McGoverns approval rating was, say 1%.
If so Romney had better worry.
Hey Poopy- Come on give us the name of who you think can be better than the current ones. I hear this all the time that the current field is no good but have yet to hear one of these naysayers come up with a name. How about it??????
Well, Poopy, I’m no seer & neither are you, but judging from the underlying anger of people who care about this country, it’s hard for me to imagine Obama would get elected again. There isn’t anyone in the Republican field that has such hatred & disdain for this country as Obama does.
Of course, never underestimate Obama fighting dirty. There will plenty of dead people & illegals recruited to vote for him.
get ready for the fix
I believe ‘uncle Joe Stalin’ said “it’s not who votes, but who counts the votes”.
