Groan: Warren Buffett’s Secretary Will Sit Next To Mooch In Her Box At Tonight’s State of the Union…

(Politico 44) — Billionaire Warren Buffett’s longtime secretary will be joining first lady Michelle Obama in her box at tonight’s State of the Union, White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer announced on Twitter.
Debbie Bosanek, who has worked for Buffett for nearly two decades, has become a symbol in the White House’s fight over the tax code and economic fairness. Obama is expected to renew his push for the so-called “Buffett rule” that would bring investment taxation levels into line with income taxation levels — and ensure that upper income earners pay rates as high as middle-class Americans.
“Warren Buffett’s secretary shouldn’t pay a higher tax rate than Warren Buffett,” President Obama said in September, when he unveiled his American Jobs Act proposal. It’s a trope that Buffett himself has repeated, as he has campaigned for higher taxes on investment income.

Buffett’s income most likely has nothing to do with capital gains. He owns Berkshire. Berkshire makes a profit, pay 35% federal tax, who knows how much local and with what is left after taxes pays him a dividend. So basically for every $ 100 he gets as dividends he has already paid $50 in taxes, but on that $100 he still has to pay personal income tax. That is why the very rch pay only 15%, because their income has already been taxed once. Since Obama has to raise more money to keep up with his spending, here’s a good idea for him. Treat families like the rich, make every woman who gets housekeeping money declare it as income and make her pay tax on it.
