Dem Rep. Jan Schakowsky Says Twenty Thousand Jobs Created By Keystone Pipeline “Not That Many”…

Talk about detached from reality.

CHICAGO (WLS) – Chicago Democratic Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky says the 20 thousand jobs that would have been immediately created by the Keystone Oil Pipeline from Canada are ‘not that many’.

Schakowsky made her comments on WLS Radio’s Don Wade and Roma Show this morning:

“Twenty thousand jobs is really not that many jobs and investing in green technologies will produce that and more. But I’ll tell you what, you know it seems to me that the Republicans would rather have an issue than a pipeline”

President Obama recently postponed a decision on building the pipeline until next year. Schakowsky says Republicans were trying to force Obama into a quick decision for political reasons.

Congresswoman Schakowsky also criticized the Tea Party Republicans in the house, and said Republicans in the Senate, even though they are the minority, are to blame for that body’s failure to pass a budget:

“These are folks that have come here and said ‘we do not believe in compromise. We came here to change Washington. We will not compromise’. They admit that compromise is a dirty word. And we talk about the Senate. The Senate, because of the use of the filibuster and the President talked about it yesterday about changing some of the rules, yes because really the Republicans hold the key”.

Good! Let this idiot keep talking! If her opponent has a team worth a damn, he/she will run this in ad after ad. When Liberals start digging, step back and if necessary, keep handing them the shovels!

When is she and the other Democrats going to start compromising? Rather interesting that the dems scream all day and night about compromise but they only want others to compromise with them not the other way around.

Another f***ing ugly liberal woman. To be ignorant to boot is no way to go through life. Yet she does, and she’s being paid by you and me. Sickening.

Those 20,000 jobs are also total bullshit anyhow. That number repeated ad nauseam was from a study that included such things as dancers and artists moving because of the pipeline. It creates only a few thousand short term construction jobs and very few lasting jobs (it’s a pipeline, duh, it is supposed to require very little human labor to keep it going).

It’s an environmentally awful idea and tar sands will not ween us off foreign oil without energy saving measures and a national shift to sustainable living. Otherwise, building it is simply more drugs for the oil junkie that is the USA.

So give the money to the muslims so they can kill more of us is the answer to our dependency on oil?

The liberals have a plan. It is called screw you. They cause the price of fuel to go through the roof but to protect their voting block; (you know, those that vote for a living instead of working for it) EBT cards will be issued to them for fuel.

And guess who will pay for that? Those that work for a living, not those that vote for a living.

There are 20,000 miles of energy pipeline in Nebraska and 2 million nationwide. The idiot environmentalists’ objections to this pipeline are total bullshit. Canada produces oil in a much cleaner way than the turds in the Middle East or Venezuela.

“It creates only a few thousand short term construction jobs and very few lasting jobs (it’s a pipeline, duh, it is supposed to require very little human labor to keep it going). ”

Right, and this pipeline somehow magically transforms this oil into gasoline, plastic, and all the other things we use oil for so that no more employment whatsoever would occur due to reduced costs for petroleum products. And of course the billions that would be spent domestically for oil instead of being sent to middle eastern countries would just sit in safe deposit boxes, and not be spent within our domestic economy at all.

“It’s an environmentally awful idea and tar sands will not ween us off foreign oil…”

I’ll take a stable democratic country to our immediate north over a pack of psychotic countries bent on our infidel destruction half a world away please.

“without energy saving measures and a national shift to sustainable living. ”

    Define both please.

Good thinkin’ there, rupaula. Yer a real genius type, aincha.

Rupaula; Have you seen the map of all the pipelines that stretch across that particular area already?

Also, you claim that the number of jobs is B.S. What then would you classify the number of jobs “created or saved”? Further what does the State Department have to do with a pipeline in the U.S.?

As to 20,000 jobs not being that many maybe it’s not UNLESS you are one of the 20,000 OR, based on the average family size of 3.14, the 42,800 those 20,000 support!

My only hope is that she is just playing to her constituency — the tony North Shore — and she is not as STUPID as she consistently appears to be.

Yes, and those pipelines carry natural gas and oil, not highly corrosive and still unstudied tarsand.

Cornell University Global Labor Institute estimated between 500-1,400 permanent jobs. Not only that, the cheap tar sands are going to be converted into diesel and shipped overseas. It’s not for American consumption (hence why it is going to coastal refineries)! This means mid-west refineries will lose cheap crude and gas prices will rise.

Rupaula: My bad. I didn’t know we were only talking about >permanent< pipeline jobs.

I thought all those UNION construction jobs counted as well as those in the refineries.

So I'm guessing that the numbers the adminstration used to show how much the unemployment rate "dropped" over the Holidays was a lie as a lot of them were NOT permanent jobs?

We can just ignore that one key number in the unemployment figures, the workforce size, fell when people used the last of their unemployment and were no longer reported as unemployed only…disappeared? I'm pretty sure that one of thes phantom people would have loved one of those "not that many jobs".
