Report: Ron Paul Personally Approved Racist Newsletters Before They Went Out…

I sense a deluge of Paulbot hate-mails filling up my inbox.

(WaPo) — Ron Paul, well known as a physician, congressman and libertarian , has also been a businessman who pursued a marketing strategy that included publishing provocative, racially charged newsletters to make money and spread his ideas, according to three people with direct knowledge of Paul’s businesses.

The Republican presidential candidate has denied writing inflammatory passages in the pamphlets from the 1990s and said recently that he did not read them at the time or for years afterward. Numerous colleagues said he does not hold racist views.

But people close to Paul’s operations said he was deeply involved in the company that produced the newsletters, Ron Paul & Associates, and closely monitored its operations, signing off on articles and speaking to staff members virtually every day.

“It was his newsletter, and it was under his name, so he always got to see the final product. . . . He would proof it,’’ said Renae Hathway, a former secretary in Paul’s company and a supporter of the Texas congressman.

The newsletters point to a rarely seen and somewhat opaque side of Paul, who has surprised the political community by becoming an important factor in the Republican race. The candidate, who has presented himself as a kindly doctor and political truth-teller, declined in a recent debate to release his tax returns, joking that he would be “embarrassed” about his income compared with that of his richer GOP rivals.

Yet a review of his enterprises reveals a sharp-eyed businessman who for nearly two decades oversaw the company and a nonprofit foundation, intertwining them with his political career. The newsletters, which were launched in the mid-1980s and bore such names as the Ron Paul Survival Report, were produced by a company Paul dissolved in 2001.

I am surprised all the death threats are not working better. The biggest problem with Ron Paul is his supporters. I actually think he is spot on on so many things but the people supporting him are nasty.

Anybody who truly thinks through Ron Paul’s positions will see the fallacy in all his arguments.

    The man is dangerously naive.

And to his supporters: While desiring liberty above all else is a wonderful goal – if you follow his policies – you will have LESS liberty, because another country will invade us – and you won’t have ANY.

    Do you not see that??

In last night’s debate the man with two names tried to be funny, “What would you do if you were president(heaven forbid) and received a call from Castro in the middle of the night?” “I would” take night my cap off, put my teeth back in and ” ask him why he called.” His funny side was as scary as his clawy hands shakin’ and screeching we bring wars on, what should a country do when we’re doing horrible things to them? I wish someone would ask him what we should have done after 9/11. Oh I forgot…he thinks like O.commie on that one…”It was Bushes fault”.

    @barkerman

    Good point.

With Barney Cwank Fwank demanding the reductions on the military be doubled by Obama, we won’t be able to defend ourselves.

What is the matter with this old queer?

Did anyone ever doubt that Paul wrote them himself?

At least he provided some humor in the debate last night.
And he looks just like Oliver Hardy.

Regardless of Paul’s domestic beliefs, he stands no chance of the nomination because he is dangerously naive – both domestically and internationally. Yeah, he has some great positions, but none of them will ever be enacted.

The thought of this kook being in charge of our foreign affairs is almost as frightening as another Obama term – just in a different way. Because he stands zero chance of winning the nomination, it’s time for him to drop out of the race. Even Rick Santorum has a better shot at the nomination. Paul has reached the top level of support he’ll ever receive.

Come on, we all know he was (and likely still is) an antisemite & racist, but are the sins of the other candidates, different though they may be, worse? Seriously, I don’t want to vote for Ron Paul, but how can I vote for the other candidates since they all have advocated dividing God’s land of Israel, something God promised would bring wrath upon our nation? Give me an alternative GOP! And it’s pretty crazy that the biggest antisemite and racist is also the one who will most protect minority rights (civil liberties), but it’s true. Please, GOP…brokered convention!

    I knew it!

Because it doesn’t make any sense to have a news letter with your name on it, and not be even the least bit curious about what is in it.

This like telling me you smoked Mary Jane, but did not inhale.

I don’t hate Ron Paul in spite of all this racist crap and his inability to see the radical Islamic threat that is right in front of his eyes. His ideas to radically gut federal spending are right on and totally correct. Our debt is skyrocketing, our credit is downgrading, and if we don’t start cutting this insanity now we are going to be bankrupt and bring what is left of the economy down with it.

Escaped mental patients supporting Luap Nor have essentially taken over Hot Air in the comments. The release of the above facts didn’t phase them in the least.
Like people did with obama, they project all their fantasies onto Luap Nor despite the fact he’s an obvious fraud. Ronulans have little connection with reality.

The easiest way for Ron Paul to get out of all this is to simply say at the next debate…

” I dont know how all that racist language slipped past my fact checker and editor at the time, Democrat Senator Robert Byrd”

“Seriously, I don’t want to vote for Ron Paul, but how can I vote for the other candidates since they all have advocated dividing God’s land of Israel, something God promised would bring wrath upon our nation?”
    _________

Is this meant to be serious or sarcastic? If the former, then you need to have your ears checked and your eyes. All the other candidates, Gingrich, Santorum and Romney support Israel in every way. It is Ron Paul who believes that Israel should be abandoned.

  20. Katherine says:

Ron Paul’s supporters are no different than the Left. They will and have done anything and everything to get what they want. They are like drug addicts who ignore the destruction of body, mind and soul the drug brings with it, as long as they can get that temporary high.

It’s not naiveté, it’s pure, unadulterated stupidity.

It never seems to occur to them that Paul’s promise of immediately cutting one trillion dollars from the Federal Budget cannot be kept, nor can any of the other promises he’s made. This is the real world we’re talking about, not some fantasy land where Paul waves a wand and it is magically done. Nor can Paul wave a wand and suddenly persuade our enemies that they don’t want to harm the U.S. or its citizens.

While some of Paul’s ideas may sound good on paper, in the real world they are unworkable, impossible and doomed. Just as his candidacy is…. The question is how much damage will he do before he’s done? Will Ron Paul be the sole reason that Obama receives another four years? If so, good work Ronulans, you’ve just cut off your nose to spite your face.

I’m not going to make fun of Ron Paul supporters because it would be an act of futility.

I do have something good to say about Ron Paul. He has not embarrassed the Republican primaries by running as a Republican because liberals don’t care about him and are to worried about Gingrich to spend much time on Paul’s past.

His participation in the debates has been good information wise and his last appearance was both humorous and warm. His ideas on foreign policy are foolish and unreal but his last performance at least didn’t make him as a person appear foolish. I hope he puts America first and doesn’t run third party.
