Obama Peddles BS Unemployment Report, Says “Recovery Is Speeding Up” – Then Blames Bush Anyway…

President Obama saluted “more good news about our economy” today, and made an election-year argument that “we can’t go back to the policies that led to the recession.”
Obama spoke at an Arlington, Va., fire house just hours after the Labor Department reported that the economy added 243,000 new jobs in January, and the unemployment rate dropped to 8.3%.
While “these numbers will go up and down” in the coming months, Obama told firefighters that “the economy is growing stronger — the recovery is speeding up.”
To that end, Obama urged Congress to extend the payroll tax cut that expires at the end of February, and not let the issue get bogged down in politics.
“Don’t muck it up,” Obama said to Congress.

Second, these aren’t “payroll tax cuts”, which implies a cut in income tax. These are reductions in FICA- which means this jackhole is advocating the defunding of one of the left’s biggest sacred cows (outside of our current first lady, that is).
Wonder where the outrage is from the brain dead left (BIRM) at soetero killing social security? Remember when Bush got eviscerated politically for even thinking about letting people handle a portion of their own FICA contributions?

Break out the champagne, we’re in high gear now rushing towards full recovery, although you may notice a slight decrease in your income, if you still have one, also you may notice a slight increase in the cost of your groceries, and your gas. There are 3 million additional unemployed workers since O’failure took office, the unemployment rate continues to go down because of the number of folks being out of benefits that are no longer counted in that equation. There are 2 million more ‘invisible’ self-employed that are not working, and they are not counted. Yup, it is definitely looking up, right?

Elaine Chao: Real Unemployment Numbers Are Double
America could be headed toward another Great Depression unless youth unemployment rates are drastically improved, former Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao tells Newsmax.TV exclusively.
The rates among the young stand at 24 percent, she said, close to the level of general unemployment during the 1930s.
“The Great Depression saw unemployment rates well in excess of 25 percent. While we are not there yet, the trend that we are currently following is very dangerous,” said Chao, the only cabinet secretary to serve for the entire George W. Bush presidency.
“From 2001-09, when I was Secretary of Labor, the average unemployment rate was 5.2 percent. This administration is trying to get us accustomed to this new norm of over 8 percent, and that is so sad – 44 percent of the 14 million Americans who have been out of work are now characterized as long-term unemployed.
“What we need is not more rhetoric that divides us, we need this administration to act in the best interests of this country and create more jobs by lessening all this talk about taxes, decreasing regulations and having some kind of fiscal discipline.”
Chao, who is married to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, was speaking to Newsmax at the Hispanic Leadership Network’s Inspiring Action Conference in Miami recently.
