Senate Dems Say Obama “Reinforced” His Stance On Contraception Mandate To Them At Democratic Retreat…

He’s digging his own political grave and they’re cheering him on. Not that I’m complaining.

(ABC News) — President Obama “reinforced” his stance on the controversial contraception mandate while speaking at the Democrats’ annual retreat at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. today, Senate Democrats said.

The retreat was closed to media.

Following President Obama’s speech at the retreat, a small group of Senate Democrats, mostly women, left the retreat early in order to hold a news conference on Capitol Hill to counter the Republicans’ news conference today at which they called for the mandate to be overturned.

Democrats said they will “fight strongly” to keep the mandate in place.

Go ahead. Shove it down the Catholic’s throats like you did with o’bumblercare. Unite the white and Latino communities. Do it.

This is just too strange for it to not be really strange. Up until now, most people for generations have been able to buy their own contraceptives. Its reasonably priced and no need to have insurance pay for it.

For heaven sake, Walmart has $4 perscriptions for just about anything. Beside the religious aspect here with Catholic orgs… since when is it the business of the federal government to force private insurance and private business into what they need to cover. This is really fucked up.

I really don’t think these a$$holes have a clue that this is not even about contraceptions.

This is about govt control. And that is what people are disgusted at.

I really hope he sticks to his guns on this one because it will take him down for sure. I think even if he caves the damage is done. I’m starting to think maybe this guy wants out. Like Teacake said above me its strange. A very weird place to make a stand.

I may be looking at this from the wrong angle, but it seems to me to be larger than just a religious issue. (that may not be the best phrasing) It’s like forcing Ford to sell dolts to their employees. If he can mandate this – can’t anything be mandated?

    @Teacake:

Nothing to do with the money issue. Jeesh, these hysterical scrunts are making it appear all birth control will be outlawed.

The religious aspect is a big deal, first amendment, freedom of religion. The old dead white guys thought it important enough to make it number one. Hussein is a militant atheist commie with a muzz background. They don’t tolerate competition. He hates the Constitution, he claims expertise on it because he wants to destroy it. Just last week he whined about it getting in his way:

“I have not been unable to force Congress to implement every aspect of what I said in 2008. Well you know it has turned out that our Founders designed a system that makes it more difficult to bring about change that I would like.”

And suddenly, we’re getting all these new “Rights”. High speed Internet is a Right. Free contraception is a Right. Free Healthcare is a Right. Squatting on public property is a Right. Rioting and vandalism is a Right.

I guess we traded the 1st and 4th Amendments for those.

Simply abandon the ‘norm against killing’ to solve organ transplant problem: leading US bioethicists

….“If this dreadful doctrine is permitted and practiced it is impossible to conjure up the degradation to which it will lead,” said Anthony Ozimic, communications manager of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC). A physician “has but to certify his patients as unproductive and he receives the command to kill.”….

…..“Once admit the right to kill unproductive persons… then none of us can be sure of his life.” …..

“We shall be at the mercy of any committee that can put a man on the list of unproductives. There will be no police protection, no court to avenge the murder and inflict punishment upon the murderer. Who can have confidence in any doctor?”

But the article’s authors admit that the situation is already grave from the point of view of traditional medical ethics. The so-called “dead donor rule,” they say, is already “routinely violated” in transplant practice anyway.

In order to be consistent with “traditional medical ethics” the practice of organ transplants, already a multi-billion dollar international medical industry, would have to be stopped immediately. But stopping organ transplants on the mere grounds that it kills people, they said, would be “extremely harmful and unreasonable from an ethical point of view.”

Ozimic critiqued the paper, saying, “According to some doctor, or because of the decision of some committee, they have no longer a right to live because they are ‘unproductive citizens’.

“The opinion is that since they can no longer make money, they are obsolete machines, comparable with some old cow that can no longer give milk or some horse that has gone lame. What is the lot of unproductive machines and cattle? They are destroyed.” But men and women, Ozimic said, are neither machines nor cattle who can be discarded when they no longer serve someone else’s needs.

“Here we are dealing with human beings, with our neighbors, brothers and sisters, the poor and invalids . . . unproductive – perhaps! But have they, therefore, lost the right to live? Have you or I the right to exist only because we are ‘productive’?”

Shocking as it may sound to the layman’s ears, however, the article’s position is not unusual in the bioethics community. The notion that the value of human life is founded upon the individual’s abilities has become run-of-the-mill in universities and, more crucially, in hospital ethics committees. It was popularized by Peter Singer, the professor of ethics at Princeton University, who infamously proposed that parents have the power to convey personhood upon their newborn children and should be allowed to kill them at will.

The fixation on autonomy, one of the three “principles” that utilitarian secular bioethics regards as the ultimate indicators of human value, has driven much of the international pressure for legalized euthanasia. Around the world, secular bioethicists supported the killing of Terri Schindler Schiavo on the grounds that her “autonomy” was permanently impaired…..

The German National Socialists started by eliminating the insane and and Downs kids and adults. They started with the born. American National Socialists start with the unborn, their extermination is just fine, why raise a generation of black children when they can be eliminated.

Blacks are by far the largest number of children killed in utero, followed by hispanic, followed by white non-hispanic. The Old South democrats of the KKK wouldn’t have even dreamed of carnage of this scale on the black population. It took the Kenyan/Hawaiian half black to make it public policy.

    24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

    25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

    26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

    27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”

    28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”

    29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

    30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”

    31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

    32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture–education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

    …

    40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

    41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

    42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems.

These Religious discrimination suits will be used to strengthen one Religious group over another; and for the intended purpose of direct control over personal choice….

The Liberal War on the Constitution and Religion

The battle launched by Barack Hussein Obama’s administration’s insistence that Catholic institutions violate their collective consciences and church law on artificial birth control has less to do with contraception than with liberal disdain for America’s Constitution.

The ongoing uproar over contraception simply reinforces the disdain shown when our alleged “constitutional scholar” president arrogantly complained to Matt Lauer that Congress was impeding his insatiable lust for power and autocratic rule by performing checks and balances on the executive branch and by his earlier declaration that he would, unconstitutionally, bypass the legislative branch to accomplish his goals.

The president was recently joined by an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in his public contempt for the US Constitution.

Arch-liberal Ruth Bader Ginsburg appeared on Egyptian television, praised other national constitutions, but said of ours, “I would not look to the U.S. Constitution if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012.” As a member of SCOTUS, Ginsburg is charged with interpreting that 225 year old document yet doesn’t consider it worthy of emulation.

As a reminder to the constitutional scholar . . .

Contraception is yet another losing issue for the GOP. Please consult the calendar: it reads 2012, not 1812. The church retains absolute liberty to withdraw from public funding at any time for any reason. If they want to operate in the public sector, they will be bound by the sames laws every other institution must follow.

    Women: 1. Church: 0.

Rule of Law: 1. Church 0.

Molested Boys: 10,000s. Church: Absent any moral authority on ANY matter.
