Allen West At CPAC: Liberal Believe People Are Selfish Robots…
He never disappoints.
(The Hill) — The U.S. safety net is the unfortunate result of liberals who believe people are selfish robots, Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) argued Friday.
West delivered a forceful rebuke of both Democrats and government programs to help the needy as he addressed activists at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
“It is the liberal philosophy not the conservative one that views humans as selfish automatons,” West said.
“Liberals worry that what’s best for the individual might not be better for the public at large,” said the Florida congressman. “But that philosophy assumes something vicious about each and every one us. It assumes we only care about ourselves.”
“For far too long we’ve allowed the other side to paint us as racist, as sexist, inhumane war mongers well today as a conservative black Republican and former solider, I’m here to set that record straight,” West said.
He told activists that when conservatives object to expanded entitlements and redistribution of wealth, they are accused of having no compassion.
“Of course we have compassion. We just don’t believe the safety net should be used as a hammock,” he said to boisterous applause.
“We must not allow the liberals to move us away from the conservative values of the American past which sustain our present and shall secure our future,” West said. “As for me and my family, we will serve God, we will serve this constitutional republic, we will serve America.”

Wait, wait, wait, Mr. West. “Selfish robot” is the foundation of conservative economics. The rational person is a person maximizing their own gain. Selfish robots are free market competition.
It’s also the exact reasoning you use for all your draconian views on abortion, drugs, same sex marriage and trying to shove religion into schools, courtrooms and other public institutions.

Conservatives have a good work ethic and are generous.
We give much more to charity than progs.
Check out bill clinton’s donations of his used underwear. Or 0-hole and squatch giving 1% of their income until o-hole started to run for office. Biden gave $300 last year to charity. Because they are amoral atheist leftists they are devoid of real compassion. They give other people’s money away and want credit for that.
The problem is when the pols take our money under the guise of using it as charity for others. Usually it’s their friends, cohorts and cronies who get most of it. If anything much trickles down to the poor it is a miracle.
What Allen West is saying here is that the progs are projecting their own foul greed and lack of trust on us. That is why they are control freaks. They are greedy scum and expect us to be as well.

B. No, using government to control a woman’s body is draconian.
C. Procreation and marriage are totally different and one is not needed for the other.
D. Us being little, unimportant specks in giant universe is much less narcissistic than thinking we are some special, chosen people who are tiny little images of God.

Yeah, I know. It always amazes me how little my truly liberal democrat volunteer or give (whereas I usually can’t say no when somebody asks me).
I get what he is saying, but in pointing that finger, he is pointing three right back at himself. Republicans don’t trust people to run their own lives. They think people are irresponsible and self-serving, which I always find highly amusing that they somehow think that turns off once they get to the office in the morning so businesses don’t have to be regulated.

Now, I get rather draconian when it comes to punishing murderers, so pro-life is a natural extension of that. (However – I believe life begins at implantation – either actual or synthetic. I am not against the morning after pill, but that’s about all the difference it makes between my and my pro-life brothers and sisters).
It’d be a lot more compelling coming from someone not directly associated with the party that literally embraces the “greed is good” Gordon Gecko speech.
In other words it’s just a little too tenuous for the people who celebrate Ayn Rand and her philosophy of taking all you can from everyone else to also claim that they are hurt when viewed as selfish rat bastards.
