Emperor Obama has spoken.
(Fox News) — Despite renewed statements of concern by Catholic leaders and lawmakers, the Obama administration is done negotiating and will finalize its plan requiring insurance companies to provide free contraception to women working and studying at religious institutions, President Obama’s chief of staff said Sunday.
Jacob Lew told “Fox News Sunday” that the compromise offered last week to address objections by the Catholic Church is clear and consistent with the president’s “very deep belief that a woman has a right to all forms of preventive health care, including contraception.”
“We have set out our policy,” Lew said. “We are going to finalize it in the final rules, but I think what the president announced on Friday is a balanced approach that meets the concerns raised both in terms of access to health care and in terms of protecting religious liberties, and we think that’s the right approach.”
But Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said the conversation isn’t over yet.
“If we end up having to try to overcome the president’s opposition by legislation, of course, I’d be happy to support it and intend to support it,” McConnell said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

As a centerpiece of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) of 2010, the focus on preventive services is a profound shift from a reactive system that primarily responds to acute problems and urgent needs to one that helps foster optimal health and well-being.
Given the magnitude of change, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services charged the IOM with reviewing what preventive services are important to women’s health and well-being and then recommending which of these should be considered in the development of comprehensive guidelines.
The IOM defined preventive health services as measures—including medications, procedures, devices, tests, education and counseling—shown to improve well-being, and/or decrease the likelihood or delay the onset of a targeted disease or condition. The IOM recommends that women’s preventive services include:
improved screening for cervical cancer, counseling for sexually transmitted infections, and counseling and screening for HIV;
a fuller range of contraceptive education, counseling, methods, and services so that women can better avoid unwanted pregnancies and space their pregnancies to promote optimal birth outcomes;
services for pregnant women including screening for gestational diabetes and lactation counseling and equipment to help women who choose to breastfeed do so successfully;

On top of all of this, I still blame the current and past Congresses for abdicating THEIR Constitutional duites by allowing un-elected government bureaucrats to make laws. In this case the stupid healthcare law was enacted with those specific powers given to the Secretary of HHS – Sebelius – and to whom does she report – hussein. So the Congress is duplicitous in giving power to hussein – power that was never intended by the framers of our Constitution.
Our Congress is as bad as this president.

Well at least we can see that the church is willing to stand up for itself, which is much better than the so called “Republican Leadership” will do.
What is the possibilitiy of voting in some conservatives that are not dishwater strong on issues. How about finding some leadership that contains some level of courage that we do not have now. How about some leadership that can act like men instead of doormats? How about electing someone capable of being proud to be conservatives.
We have very very few today, we should through all of the useless wimps out and replace them with fighters.

Agreed it is a battle- but earflaps’s latest assault is more about abusing constitutional power and establishing a totalitarian state than it is about him tromping on religion.
What turtlehead is attempting to do is dictate two things- one, that the federal gov’t can control what a company sells and what they will charge for it; and two, the federal gov’t can dictate what benefits an employer will or will not provide to their employees.
The Catholic Church just happens to be the first employer Preznit downgrade chose to dictate to- a very large blunder, as the Church ain’t going to roll over like the Wall Streeters did (remember “I’m the only thing keeping you from the pitchforks”?- good times, brownshirty good times).
The issue at hand is being confused (one could argue purposely by the comically in the tank msm) with the smokescreen of Catholics being morally against contraception and abortion.
But the reason for their objection is irrelevant- the federal gov’t does NOT have the authority to dictate to a business what benefits they’ll provide to an employee. Additionally, the federal gov’t does NOT have the authority to control product and price in the supposed free market.
At least they don’t in the world I was brought up in.
