Allen West: Democratic Handouts An “Insidious Form of Slavery”…

(The Hill) — Freshman Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) on Wednesday evening praised the Republican Party for consistently fighting for individual freedom over the last 150 years, and criticized Democrats for pursuing “handouts” to the less fortunate that he said are a modern form of slavery.
“Our party firmly believes in the safety net,” West said in a late Wednesday floor speech. “We reject the idea of the safety net becoming a hammock.
“For this reason, the Republican value of minimizing government dependence is particularly beneficial to the poorest among us,” he continued. “Conversely, the Democratic appetite for ever-increasing redistributionary handouts is in fact the most insidious form of slavery remaining in the world today, and it does not promote economic freedom.”
West recounted the history of the Republican Party by noting that it played a major role in several key moments in which it fought for greater freedoms for African Americans. “The Republican Party has always been the party of freedom,” he said.
Among other events, he noted that Republican President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, and the GOP pushed the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments to the Constitution that ended slavery, provided equal protection under the law, and gave blacks the right to vote.
He added that a Republican Congress passed the law establishing the Buffalo Soldiers, and that GOP President Ulysses Grant signed the first major civil rights act into law in 1875.

I’d like to see a candidate announce the Cabinet during the Primaries – West, Palin, Bolton, Rubio, maybe even Crazy Uncle Ron. They’d pick up a lot votes, I think – just as people voted for Palin, not McCain, in ’08.

How can a true, red-blooded American not love this guy. You know, I have two siblings in my family that think I’m racist for not supporting Barry. Yet, when I bring up Allen West’s name, and how I would love for him to be VP, even Pres, they still say I’m racist towards Barry! WTF? Am not that way, at all.

The Lt Col (ret) is EXACTLY correct. The ever-increasing government spending of OUR tax dollars on giveaway programs (except for the truly disabled, of course) leads to only creating more dependency on government handouts, which leads to the classic “perpetual engine” of socialistic redistribution of private income, which creates a voting constituency that solidly and repeatedly votes to continue it. Sadly, it is the equivalent of slaves who solidly and repeatedly vote to continue the wretched institution of government-sanctioned slavery.
How do the Demonrats get away with it. Got a twenty? Who is on it? Old Andy , genocidal Indian killer. Even then, no everybody was ok with what was done to the Cherokee and others. And Wilson fired all the Blacks TR hired. The democrats, always appealing to the basest human emotions. Civil War draft riots and lynching of blacks in NYC? Democrats. And on, and on.
Mr.West makes a positive impact with his speeches and sound bites.
But i hesitate to to place too much hope in him.
The country already made the mistake of hiring 1 inexperienced , unknown leader and we will pay heavily for that for a long time.

I was reading how Obama was to put the American people under more and more hand outs. This way they have basically nothing but have to rely on the government. That is one way of getting hold of the people. Then in the same article Obama he preparing for martial law just at the right time. Maybe it stands to reason he is not or doesn’t seem to worried about his rating, cause he is gonna be president by one way or the other. It doesn’t take brainiac to figure this out, all you have to do is look at the pattern. Dismantling of America, cripple the people financially etc.
