Good News: Syrian Rebels Flying Black Al-Qaeda Flag…

We’ve also seen the al-Qaeda flag openly flown in Libya, Tunisia and Egypt.

A piece of footage in an Al-Jazeera English segment showing Free Syrian Army fighters showed a black-and-white flag similar (but not the same) as that used by the Islamic State of Iraq and Somalia’s Al-Shabab. The footage also shows a banner reading, “Al-Bara’ bin Malik Brigade,” named after a prominent Companion of the Prophet Muhammad who is renowned for his bravery and military prowess. This historical personage is popular. Al-Qa’ida in the Land of the Two Rivers (Iraq) named its martyrdom brigade after him.

Mozilla: Firefox can be hacked via booby-trapped images

    By Ryan Naraine | February 17, 2012, 11:01am PST

Summary: For the second time in a week, Mozilla patches a “critical” vulnerability that could be remotely exploitable and can lead to arbitrary code execution.

For the second time this week, Mozilla has rushed out a Firefox security update to fix a dangerous security vulnerability.

The latest vulnerability, which was discovered and reported by representatives from Red Hat, “could be attacked simply by displaying a maliciously crafted image.”

The skinny from a Mozilla advisory:
    follow Ryan Naraine on twitter

The libpng graphics library, used by Firefox and Thunderbird as well as many other software packages, contains an exploitable integer overflow bug. An attacker could craft malicious images which exploit this bug, and deliver them to users through websites or email messages.

This bug is remotely exploitable and can lead to arbitrary code execution. Firefox, Thunderbird and Seamonkey users could be attacked simply by displaying a maliciously crafted image.

    Of related interest…

The article implies they were Ka-daffy’s … but, honestly, what are the odds they have Made in USA stamped on them? Recall the same concerns leveled once Daffy was impaled. It’s “Fast and Furious Libya”, I’d bet:

Algeria seizes missiles smuggled from Libya

    http://tiny.cc/j0eer

Algerian security forces have found a large cache of weapons, including shoulder-fired missiles, which they believe were smuggled in from neighboring Libya, a security source briefed on the discovery told Reuters on Saturday.

The find follows warnings from governments in the region that instability in Libya after the end of Muammar Gaddafi’s rule is allowing weapons taken from Gaddafi’s arsenal to fall into the hands of al Qaeda’s north African branch and other insurgent groups across the Sahara desert.

The weapons cache was discovered in the desert about 60 km (40 miles) south of In Amenas, an energy-producing Algerian region near the border with Libya, said the source, who spoke to Reuters on condition on anonymity.

The source said the cache was located following a tip-off from a smuggler who had been arrested. He said it contained a “large quantity” of arms including the shoulder-launched missiles – a weapon which, in some variations, could be used to bring down an aircraft.

    [...]

Gaddafi’s forces had about 20,000 of the missiles, according to a U.S. government task force which is trying to locate the missiles. The task force says most of the missiles are still inside Libya, in the hands of militias loosely allied to the interim leadership that took over after Gaddafi’s rule was overthrown last year.

In a sane world, these problems would be cleanly taken care of before we leave the region. The muzz talk big, but we have proven on more than one occasion how hopeless they are against our air and sea power. Which of course this commie is diminishing by the day.

We overthrew Gadaffi, knowing full well that alQaeda was in with the rebels, and we used 3-400 dead as an excuse for the “humanitarian” limited military action.

In Syria, there are 7000 dead, alQaeda is definitely part of the rebels, and we do nothing.

I guess Syrians aren’t worth as much as Libyans.

How does al-Qaeda feel about all this?

If the Iranians are now working with al-Qaeda, but also working with the Syrian Assad government against the al-Qaeda sympathizing resistance, then the political situation is far from stable.

What we should be trying to encourage is an all-out-war between the Iranians and al-Qaeda.

20,000 shoulder-fired missiles, eh?…if just 10% of them are SAM’s, there’s over 2,000 of them out there. This is serious shit, why else would the U.S. have a task force over there to locate them?…Look out, cause if AQ figures a way to use them, there won’t be an airliner safe in any Western country…

Anyone feel like our “secret talks” may just be encouragement to keep the war machine raging?

Dying in a drone attack or being killed in battle would be considered an act of martyrdom in Islam when fighting ‘the great satan’ – lets not forget that FACT.

Think about the pride we put in our armed forces – now reverse that and make it an evil propaganda you’ve learned your whole life at a school of jihad. These individuals are groomed for war and the enforcement of the islamofacist state. And they are honored to die for it.

And with our corrupt administration they can leverage fear of terrorism to control us into walking through back scatter machines that do lord knows what to our bodies – all while being told to eat our veggies.
