Pelosi: Catholic Church Trying To Make Obama Enforce Its Teachings…

(CNSNews.com) – During an event at Texas A&M University on Monday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) claimed the Catholic Church has not enforced its teachings on contraceptives and abortifacients, and that the church now wants the federal government to enforce them.
“Ninety-eight percent of women in childbearing age that are Catholic use contraception. So, in practice the church has not enforced this and now they want the federal government and private insurance to enforce it. It just isn’t consistent to me,” Pelosi said.
The statement came after the Minority Leader was questioned about the conflict between the Catholic church and a regulation issued by the Obama administration that would require every health insurer to offer contraceptives, including those that induce abortion, free of charge.
“Whatever my personal beliefs or my personal upbringing are on this subject everyone has their own responsibility in terms of the size and the rest of their family. So, I think this should be removed from the debate, it’s inflammatory – misrepresentations are made,” Pelosi added.

I’m gonna go ethnic here for just a second. Can somebody PLEASE tell me how an Italian Catholic woman of Nan’s age does NOT understand this issue? It is not the Church’s job to enforce ANYthing. They proffer the beliefs and the individual is free to CHOOSE whether to accept them or not. The government is not allowed to choose for the Church. What is SO flippin difficult to understand about this?

The issue isn’t whether Catholics should be able to use it, it’s whether the Church should be forced to pay for it. Unsurprisingly, a majority of Catholics think the government has no right to tell the Church what to do – especially if it contradicts their own viewpoint. My God, why doesn’t the Left grasp this simple fact?

You choose not to follow Church dictates on these things that is on your head … And speaking of “head”, you also take Holy Sacraments with this ‘choice’ on your own personal soul. The priest will not weed you out, beat you in front of the congregation, and then behead you. At worst, said priest would refuse to offer/grant you Holy Sacrament.
