Artist Behind Obama “Hope” Poster Pleads Guilty To Criminal Contempt…
NEW YORK (AP) — The creator of the Barack Obama “HOPE” poster, made popular on the campaign trail four years ago, has pleaded guilty to criminal contempt.
Shepard Fairey entered the plea Friday in New York City.
The criminal case originated after the artist acknowledged he had fabricated information in a lawsuit he brought against The Associated Press in 2009.
The lawsuit sought a court declaration that he did not violate AP’s copyrights when he made the Obama image. The AP countersued, saying the uncredited, uncompensated use of its picture violated copyright laws.

Not that it’s “bad” to be rich. My point only is that someone seems rather prideful of Shepard Fairey and claims he’s “rich” and “won’t see jail time,” and my response is he’s “rich” BUT he’s a bad person — being “rich” doesn’t change that.

I agree, except that the colors Fairey used in that awful, awful poster of “his” so to speak, the colors he chose and used are those of decomposition.
Every time I see that image I think of decomposing matter — it’s not at ALL a complimentary color scheme, it’s really a use of the colors of d.e.a..th.

I’m actually thankful to Shepard Fairey for the HOPE poster–it’s what led me to become a TEA Party member.
When I first saw his poster, I immediately made the connection to Stalin- and Hitler-era propaganda posters. In searching for confirmation, I found an article on American Thinker, which led to reading other Conservative blogs, which led to listening to Rush Limbaugh, etc.
What I found most edifying was that BHO did not distance himself from this Communist artist’s product.
