President Obama’s campaign has hired Oscar-winning director Davis Guggenheim to produce a short film chronicling the first three years of his administration, Julianna Goldman of Bloomberg reports.
The campaign paid more than $160,000 for the film, which is less than 30 minutes long and set to be released in the coming weeks, Goldman reports.
Guggenheim won an Oscar in 2006 for “An Inconvenient Truth.”

If you had an Obama-caused disaster per frame, you’d still have to prioritize and aggressively select, but it’d be as incoherent as a sober Joe Biden speech. The content selection alone is frightening, but then there’s the entire issue of the instability of the primary subject. Ask yourself, just which Obama personality do you represent? You don’t have time in a half-hour film for the Sybil treatment (and even then, they chopped it down to the top eight). Do you tell the story through the eyes of the Bitter Communist Radical Obama, from his man-boy love relationship with Frank Marshall Davis through his college faux radical days to his moving in and hanging out with the Ayers? We could spend six hours on this view alone, but then there’s the story of the liberated gay man who was crushed by society and forced to marry the “beard” Michelle in order to seem legitimate to the close-minded voters. Or there’s the nihilist-in-chief story that is numb to the blazing catastrophe all around him as he coaches his girls basketball team, golfs more holes than Tiger Woods, and attends night after night of parties with elites.
We’ve not even touched on the fundraising Obama, where he spends almost all of his “work time” raising money for his re-election, a profound statement of futility where even if he succeeds, he only attains “another five years” (sic) doing fundraising presumably for another poseur-in-chief (unless he can ignore that provision of the law like almost all other aspects of the Constitution he’s trashed).
How does one reduce this to thirty minutes? About the only option I can think of is to simply make it all up. I hope Guggenheim is intimately familiar with the great progressive film “Triumph of the Will.” He’s going to need to borrow quite liberally from its techniques in order to pull off this assignment.

Wikipedia has the casting details. Obama naturally is the only one capable of playing himself. Michael Dom (who played the Klingon Worf in Star Trek Next Generation) as Michelle Obama. Dennis Hopper was intended to play Joe Biden but his recent passing has them looking seriously at Jeff Dunham’s puppet Walter. James McAvoy (who played Mr. Tumnus in the Chronicals of Narnia) will return to his Tumnus character for the role of Timothy Geithner.
