Former NYT Editor Bill Keller Likens Santorum To a Radical Islamist, Says He’s Trying To Impose a “Christian Version of Sharia Law”…
Wait, hasn’t the left been telling us Sharia is nothing to worry about?
Comments & pings are closed.BILL KELLER: Remember earlier in the campaign when Newt Gingrich was worrying everybody about Sharia law–the Muslims were going to impose Sharia law in America? Sometimes Santorum sounds like he’s creeping up on a kind of Christian version of Sharia law.

For every action, there is an opposite and equal reaction.
Santorum wants to give his brand of religious beliefs special status and so does everyone else.
Then you either kiss everyone’s ass or no one’s ass.
While your ass kissing, nothing good gets done.
Keller was for it before he was against it.
hahaha what a dope. Buy your own damn birth control! So much like sharia.
“…a kind of Christian version of Sharia law.”
Isn’t that a contradiction of terms seeing that Christianity and Islamic Law are very different beliefs and doctrines.
Also, if Bill Keller doesn’t want a “Christian version” does he also mean he doesn’t want Sharia either?
Just more elite liberal twaddle.
I know several hysterical liberals like this. One says that he’s scared to death of the Southern Baptist Theocracy that the GOP would create if they had the power, but he thinks that an Islamic Theocracy would be OK. Another thinks that fundamentalist Christians want to kill gays, but that all the stories of Islam actually killing gays are false. Liberalism is a mental disorder. The good part is that if we win, we’re all OK. And if they win, the Muzzies will kill them, and we’re still OK. So, I just laugh at them now as their panties just keep getting twisted into a tighter and tighter wad.
Isn’t the Times editor being “Islamophobic” by comparing Santorum, who he hates and thinks is evil, to Muslims? As Zip said, the Left doesn’t hesitate to call Islam and Sharia the bogeyman when comparisons are to be made to “evil” Republicans.
Keller is displaying anti-Catholic bias…and as a Catholic, I am VERY offended.
However, is people like KKKeller are shakin’ in their sheets, gooooooo Santorum!
(Note: look at who the KKK was against about 90 – 100 years ago…Italian Catholics.)
There is just no accounting for stupid. Was this guy Keller college educated? Maybe that’s what Berserk means when he says he wants everyone to go to college – so they will all be brainwashed into mouthing stupid leftist remarks.
Anything goes in the interests of progress…of a certain type.

That “love thy neighbor” stuff is really threatening, ain’t it?
Again, they’ll say absolutely anything.
Their desperation is only going to get worse as time goes on.
They may make their base happy, but they are certainly not going to win any votes that count.
I am so sick of moral relativism.
Christian’s live like they are under Sharia law already…yes, it is ExACtly the same, isn’t it?
For some comparison: Christians are obsessed with family honor. Well among the females, and if honor is besmirched-the female must be executed.
Christians are obsessed with not sinning during sexual relations-so all females must undergo female circumcision-when they are about 8-12 years old. I mean the pain is important to let the gals know they are useless chattel.
Christians revel in the eye for an eye. You rape my daughter, my husband can rape your wife(after he kills my daughter for being around a male). Our court system is often held in stadiums set aside for fun happy games of Futbol. I love going to the market and knowing from a glance who has stolen things in the past-as the telltale sign of a missing hand lets me know.
Christians believe in modesty. I love being covered from head to toe, so that I will not cause anyone to stumble when they see me and have perverse thoughts. I am especially grateful that my daughter can count on modesty police thumping her in public with a baton…if her toes peek out.
I love that Christians wed our little girls to more mature men. It is refreshing to see wedding photos where the husband is graying around the temples and the wife just lost her first tooth. Precious isn’t it?
I love that the sin in Christianity is not separated from the sinner. I love that we can hang sinners from construction machinery whenever we need. I love that young people that are gay/ outspoken/ rude/ or even speaking ill of Christ are taken care of…so others will understand.
I love that yes, Christianity is exactly like Sharia law with Muslims. I can rest assured that without someone telling me which country is which, that I would have a hard time determining which nation yields to sharia law, and which nation has built her foundation upon the Christian faith.(see the Magna Carta all the way to the US Constitution).
We may not be 100 percent Christian nation but we do have a moral compass. Well most of us do~just not in the MSM.
Keep in mind that Keller is talking to Meeka the dimwit and Scarblowhard; so it’s not like he has to make sense.
So how fewer subcribers dose the NEW YORK SLIMES have anymore?
@fu_itol
I must say, and I have before,
you certainly have a strange view of an individual believing in and wanting to practice his faith
it seems a real stretch to me, a huge leap in fact, that you equate that with wanting to impose a theocracy,
please provide examples of your theory, who / what / where in the United States has there been an attempt by christians to impose a theocracy?
the very inverse of what you are spouting is actually the truth,
those who believe, cherish the privilege (it used to be a right guaranteed by the Constitution) of practicing their religion and therefore are more tolerant of others
you, by your posts, have proven how intolerant you are,
troll
Are these the same liberals who claim that a recognition of Shariah is necessary to respect the diversity of Muslims?
All of the sudden Democrats are against Multiculturalism?
“Christian version of Sharia Law”???
That’s like saying a ‘democratic version of totalitarianism’.
@Jennifer
Well said!

“I must say, and I have before,

The guy is running for president. You have a strange way of ignoring the fact that people we need to vote against Obama are not comfortable with what Santorum is saying lately. Don’t let the dem crossover vote in Michigan fool you, serious Republicans are not comfortable with Santorum as of late.
I know there are few of you social conservative zealots here that reinforce each other’s belief in how things should be, as opposed to the reality of how they are. Get out and mingle in the real world and see how fast you get ignored or laughed at.
News flash for you, sheep want to be preached to, thinking, freedom loving people, don’t.
Santorum should talk about what he is going to do about fixing things Obama and Bush have broken. Talking about the evils of contraception is utterly and profoundly stupid for someone running for president.
Your wish list, does not impress most people and we need as many people on board as possible to defeat Obama.
Does that bother you?
I would say that Keller and others (even on this board) do not understand Christianity.
News flash . . . some of us don’t care if anyone laughs at us. We will stand on what we believe.
Poppycock….
Three boobs and their guests.
According to libral zealots, no one but atheists muzz gays and abortion worshippers are allowed to express their views in the public square.Bullsheet.
What Teacake said, pay for your own damned recreational accessories.
When Christians start head chopping and FGM get back to me or stfu.
Darn right! And if you dare to use birth control, WE WILL CHOP OFF YOUR HEAD!!! Oh…wait…
Why does Keller hate Muslims?
haha!!! YES! Imagine the HORROR!!!
Love your enemy
Love your neighbor
Be a Good Samaritan
Don’t steal
Don’t murder
Don’t rape
Come to think of it, it’s exactly the OPPOSITE of Sharia.

No, Liberal sh*theads like Mr. Keller have been telling us that it would improve the American legal system and make it more deverse. I think we should let Mr. Keller live in one of the Islamic holes for a couple of monthe/years and see if he still believes in the liberal garbage that he spouts.
Projection again. Almost always projection by the left who have a tween ethos.
In fact, it is the IslamoLiberals whose liberal faith¹ shares many tenets with the radical Islam practiced by Muslim jihadists:
Both HATE and want to DESTROY:
• America
• Israel
• capitalism
• a free, informed and independent citizenry
• civilization in general but Western civilization in particular
• other faiths: primarily Judaism (but don’t forget the Coptics in Egypt and the other Christians in Nigeria) in the Middle East but Christianity here in America
Other similarities between liberalism and radical Islam [caps added]:
° Economics: Some argue that early Islamic theory and practice formed a “coherent” economic system with “a BLUEPRINT FOR A NEW WORLD ORDER in society, in which all participants would be TREATED MORE FAIRLY”. Michael Bonner, for example, has written that an “economy of poverty” prevailed in Islam until the 13th and 14th centuries. Under this system God’s guidance made sure the flow of money and goods was “purified” by being CHANNELED FROM THOSE WHO HAD MUCH of it TO THOSE WHO HAD LITTLE by encouraging zakat (charity) [NOT government-sponsored welfare] and discouraging riba (interest) on loans
° Law: Anything anti-Constitution (hence the ‘living document’ fabrication) that would function like Sharia – SHARIA COVERS not only religious rituals, but also MANY ASPECTS OF DAY-TO-DAY LIFE, POLITICS, ECONOMICS, BANKING, BUSINESS OR CONTRACT LAW, AND SOCIAL ISSUES
Evidence of Organization:
• brick and mortar places of worship: the Kremlin, the Forbidden City, U.S. Capitol building
• high priests: the Kims, the Obamas, the Castros, George Soros, Dick Trumka
• holy writs: the Communist Manifesto, the Little Red Book, The New York Times, any of the discredited drivel authored by John Maynard Keynes
• tracts: anything disseminated by the LeftSM – both electronic and print.
• JournoList, ACORN, Moveon.org, SEIU, AFSCME
Conclusion: The liberal faith¹ has caused more death and destruction to the human species that all the other faiths combined many times over.
