Of course it’s not. And Coons and other Democrats know and admit that it’s about “fairness;” which is a clever way of saying we want “class warfare,” we want to tax the rich more just because they have more. That much I’m OK with because it’s a known.
Where they go off the rails is the blatant misrepresentation of reality when they say things like the rich basically are allowed to use loophole to “pay single digits, 10 percent, 15 percent, when taxi drivers, postal workers and cops are paying 30 percent.”
For the sake of space, I assume we all understand the difference how total income for a wealthy individual will be taxed at different rates due to capital gains income versus regular income, and the argument that goes with that. So I’ll just focus on the absurdity of the rest of this ridiculous rhetoric.
SHOW ME a taxi driver, postal worker, or cop that is paying an actual 30% income tax rate.
For starters, you can’t because there is no “30%” bracket. Second, how many people in those jobs are making $175k/year (the amount to put you past the 28% bracket) or over $212k if married filing jointly?

But why do Democrats believe that only 400 people can pay off our deficit?
Are some of them ‘Trillionaires’? Is there such a thing?
