The US launched a drone strike in the Shawal Valley, a terrorist haven in Pakistan’s Taliban-controlled tribal agency of North Waziristan today, killing six “militants. The strike is the first in Pakistan in nearly three weeks.
The remotely piloted Predators or the more advanced Reapers fired several missiles at a compound in the village of Shuwedar in the Shawal Valley in North Waziristan, according to AFP. A vehicle parked at the compound was also destroyed during the strike.
The exact target of the strike has not been disclosed. No senior al Qaeda or allied jihadist commanders from foreign terrorist groups are reported to have been killed in the strike.
