“Dear Satan, please raise the tax rate to 80%.”

(CNS News) — House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said she and other members of Congress are “praying” for the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reducation — the so-called super committee — that is trying to reach an agreement by Nov. 23 to reduce the federal deficit by at least $1.5 trillion over the next 10 years.

At a press briefing on Thursday, Pelosi said, “We just have to encourage them, not snipe, not — trying to keep rhetoric down about what’s, what, you know, ‘why aren’t they doing this or that?’”

“The fact is they have this responsibility,” Pelosi said. “We respect the charge that they have, Democrats, Republicans, House and Senate, we wish them well and we’re even praying for them.”
